I'm in the process of re gelcoating a hondo pantera. Capping the deck and all that jazz. I'd really like to keep the original HIN on the hull . Is this possible or should I forget it and just cover it?

Cover it? Save it? I don't know.

But what I would do, is go to the trophy shop, and get 2 or 3 hull number IDs made up from your title/hin numbers. The trophy shop knew what I needed.

Here's why-
I bought a California registered boat, a '75 model, no hin. Registered it in AZ, and had to make ID #s for the hull. Same # as the AZ numbers (They assigned). One on the transom, one hidden under the dash. Unfortunately, mines registered as a 2010 homemade or homebuilt, rather than a 1975 Saguaro, which it is. Mine was likely painted over at that spot, a dark blue stripe.
Had i known, I'd have put the original hin # on it before I registered it in AZ.
