Hey guys,

Just trying to gather info. Correct me if i'm wrong. The SCX is the best upper you can get for the bravo style drives?

Goes in this order?
SCX
SC
XR
Bravo 1

Also, would an SC lower fit onto an SCX upper?

Thanks

Pretty much, but there’s builders out there that build the XR to be as strong or stronger than the SC upper.

And yes an SC lower fits an SCX. Most guys until they reach 1200hp won’t run the SCX lower on a SCX upper simply as it robs more power and the shape creates more drag and is slower.

From what I read the bullet is a lot bigger on the Scx lower. Bigger gears etc.

So even with an Scx upper and sc lower you would have to get on plane slowly? Don’t ramp it to keep it alive? Hp is around 800hp.

want to see a bin full of broken imco parts?, the lowers are okay, the uppers just slide the cost scale up.

Everything breaks. Just matter of time. How much time is my question. That depends on my driving too. Haha

I've been at this for quite awhile, and I will take number drives over anything else.

Scx is about 40% bigger gear sets. If going in a lightweight 25’. Car hull with big power a scx upper and sc lower are a good combo. Big heavy deck a scx lower instead.

The sc drive is still xr gear sets in a different a slightly stronger case vs scx is a completely different gear set.

Really comes down to driving imo. The out the hole hammer down to get on plane/heavy deck boat will put a toll/big load and what puts the most strain imo.

Small 26 will have a good life with that power with a proper built xr/sc (same thing essentially) and a sc lower.

Scx is best you can buy for bravo platform but if it’s been ran hard I wouldn’t have the mindset of something you won’t have issues with.

Bob Teague did a couple of Youtube video's on this. They are quite informative, I would check them out.

Yes has been said the bigger lower scrub's top end due to drag. If you want all out do the SCX upper and an SC lower(or any upgraded lower). If you don't care as much just do the full SCX.

If money is no object go with the Dual Downshaft lower

Do you lose speed because of the Scx lower or does the Scx upper lose speed also?

Lower make sense cause of the bigger bullet.

Upper lose speed because of bigger gears?

Tap in…

SCX upper gears are 35% bigger. They take more hp to turn vs bravo gears. SCX lower,1300 and 1400 have bigger bullets. Slower due to drag.
SCX upper is physically bigger, heavier, set back further and higher than a bravo.
On a light boat, a built bravo and sc lower might last a long time, if you are nice to it.

Cool.

You have to be nice to all drives to make it through a weekend.

I’ve seen M8’s blow up when you’re not nice to them! Lol.

I have the SCX uppers with SCX Dual Downshaft lowers and did not see a loss in speed. The SCX DD case is very different than the SCX lower.

Which version SCX DD lower? I tried version 1. It was terrible. Replaced with an SC lower. Been great for several years behind a 25 Daytona with 860hp

Same here, really wanted the DD to work. They changed the cases so new ones may be better for a single engine cat.

I think the old case worked well on the twin engine big V boats.

33 Active Thunder 525 efi's with 3.8 whipple's. I also had Wilson Custom Marine blueprint the lowers and gained speed, as well as a little better handling as well.
I like those 33 ATs. How does it run with that power/drive combo?
