This is my wife’s favorite, and she’s a sushi freak. We used to drive there from Anahiem Hills for dinner. 🙄

If you’re willing to drive a bit north. Sushi Hanami at the south end of calabasas is fuckin amaze balls. I’ve never actually been to that location but the owner opens one up by us for a few years and seriously, one of two best sushi I’ve ever had. Insane. I’ve been meaning to get down to that location but it’s a! Hour drive for us so, hasn’t happened yet.

Hands down the best around. I have been to so many Sushi places and Shibuya is the real deal Japanese. Only issue is it's a MOFO to try and get in there. Its very small and people start lining up before they open at 5. Best bet is to go early or you will be waiting forever at peak times. You will not be disappointed.

Another great spot is a bit further north in Westlake Village called Emon. Very similar to Shibuya Japanese but small and also always has a wait. These are for sure two of the best around. Brothers in Woodland Hills on Ventura is decent but nowhere near as good as Shibuya or Emon. Most all Sushi places around are subpar Korean IMO.

Exactly, We're spoiled, went to the same bar for over 25 years.
Owner retired due to health issues.

… It is way out of your way… but what I was told in the 90s by people who really knew their sushi… that… “Chiba”… in North Hollywood was far and away the best… Chiba moved from its original tiny location on Saticoy to a much larger facility, around the corner… at 7515 Lankershim… North Hollywood… 91605 …I believe the large brick home that probably was the home for a horseranch in the 40s and 50s… I believe that brick home is still standing on the property…
… the location was a car lot when I was nine or 10 years old… Could’ve bought a 34 Lincoln coupe and a 34 Lincoln four-door sedan for $400 each… My father said no… what a Killjoy🤷🏽‍♀️… subsequently, it was a few other car, lots… Then an old trailer supply facility… then a Mexican restaurant for a lengthy period of time… And now it is “Chiba”…a true Japanese sushi, restaurant… Said by many to be the best of the best… unfortunately I can’t get any of my intimates to go eat sushi with me. They are either stuck on In-N-Out or the Old Time restaurant in Sun Valley… One of these days I will get there and it’s only like three blocks away.???…😳

I've been out of the SFV for a while, but used to like Tokyo Delves in the NoHo, they had another location in MDR. Not sure if they're still around and i'm too lazy to look it up on the intraweb... Not the best sushi that I've had (no complaints tho), but it had a rock and roll party atmosphere with the sushi chefs and waiters/waitresses dancing on the tables and loud music. Always had a blast going there for b-days or with a group, it was absolutely a super fun and interactive sushi joint.

When we had the house in Shadow Hills we would do the Chibas…parking used to be sketchy but apparently now they have the whole strip mall.
Never was a fan of Tokyo Delvs…to much of an attraction and we also got kicked out for to much fun!

… nope Chibas didn’t take over the whole strip mall. They just moved around the corner to a bigger location with on-site parking… I think they have on-site parking…. I will have to look the next time I’m over there.🤷🏽‍♀️

Ok I’m telling you this is the best place but you won’t believe me if you see where it’s located.

Read the reviews. It really is the best place as far as quality goes but it’s very expensive and you need to make reservations.

Check out Go's Mart

I went with my buddy to this place and it was $400 for two of us, just a heads up. We told the chef to just make what he wants and keep it going. I guess we shouldn't have hit the bong before going in. We went another time and it was $500 for three of us. I guess we didn't learn our lesson. 🤪
