I'm checking to see if anyone is splitting a signal (running the same feed to two tv's) from a Direct TV box using a powered splitter. If you are, which splitter are you using? There are a lot of different brands out there with reviews stating different things. I'm just checking to see if anyone here is doing it themselves.

Thanks...

I have a splitter for 2 TVs for my garage in Havasu and for 2 TVs here in Yorba Linda. Its not a powered splitter. I got them at Radio Shack.

Are you trying to get the same video signal on two tvs?

If so I would avoid splitting the coaxial signal--as it is more complicated now with Swm.

If you are trying to have a guest room tv powered and a garage tv off one box, use an hdmi cable out from the box from one or component video--you can run both at the same time from most boxes

if you are running a genie system, use a powered hdmi signal splitter (check monoprice for the box or cables)

You really don't have to split. What kind of boxes are you using HD or regular? Depending how far you can use coax on one and RCA on another. If it's far run coax to the farthest one then get coax to RCA fittings and you won't have to split. Sometimes splitters can sacrifice the picture quality I would reccomend a coaxial relay instead if you really have to split.

It's only about 15 or 20 feet between the two tv's. I would prefer to use HDMI's on both tv's so I can have HD on both tv's.

Our living room Direct TV box powers both the living room TV and the garage TV. The garage feed comes out of the back of the Direct TV unit. Both TVs show the same program.

We have a separate Direct TV box in the Bedroom up front.

I just went thru that deal. The first one i got on Amazon was a Sewell HDMI 2 into 1 powered splitter for about $25, I don't remember the model number. It would kill the picture in both TVs for a couple of seconds every so often. So I sent it back to Amazon and ordered one online from Monoprice.com Model # HD-120E3-V2, 1x2 PRO Series Powered HDMI Splitter W/3D for about $50. This box works perfect no more black outs. I'am very happy with this box. JJ
