Looking for a shop in Havasu to create the teak platform below. Found it by just searching the boats name and thought that it looked way more comfortable than the current setup. Currently just have two swim platforms that are not deep. The swim platforms that are on the boat have 3 slots, and this one has 4-5 so definitely roomier. Kind of uncomfortable to sit on it without your back hitting the upper area of the boat. The picture below has a pop up center for the engine to raise up. Not even sure of pricing of that and if it’s worth it.

Thanks.

Teak is not cheap.... probably more expensive than a new fiberglass step...
Installation is a pain in the ass on most I/O boats.. It can be done, hell I have installed some types of swim steps in the past...if your handy with tools and boats, you can save lots $$$ if you can do it yourself.

Therefore you can expect the price to reflect the above...

I was thinking this could be quit expensive and involved, solution: modify and lengthen your supports and add one or two straight bars of teak, refinish.

I had that teak setup on my old ultra.. Had the door for the drive. Be sure you have wide enough supports. My steps broke off twice getting in and out of the water. Had a buddy piece it back together. I remember cringing everytime someone would put thier weight on it ..just anticipating the wood snapping off again. Glad thats over with and long gone:eek::D

Yeah... you guys are all right. I just called around a few places to check pricing and it wasn’t cheap at all. The stores weren’t local to Havasu. Haven’t really checked out fiberglass deck prices. Wasn’t sure it would fit the boats style.

I did find these on amazon. The depth in current two swim decks are 14 inches and these are 18 inches. So will give another 4 inches of room. Not much, but more practical. I’m pretty sure the current steps are teak. They are very solid and heavy. There is also a heavy thick epoxy type of coat on them so the wood was never exposed. They were wrapped in foam deck material and that has worn off over the last 7-8 years and it has been a pain to scrap off the old foam material. So thought it would be better to just order new ones. Or figure out deck option so there isn’t much room to sit on ours.

This would mount above outdrive below rub rail. They do not make a 2 piece. I have one on my boat and very happy with it. Shoot them a email if you are interested in a one piece over the drive swim platform. Stacie is the Guy I dealt with and he took great care of my boat and making it just like I wanted.

That might be a good option, I didn't realize they would be so readily available. My main concern for you was not having to deal with changing the mounting of the supports on the transom, drilling new holes and filling others can be a pain, it certainly can be done just depends on how deep you want to get in to it. Now the only question would be, are the supports long enough to support the added length of the seat without modification and do they line up well with the width of the seat.

Thanks. I think if these extended teak ones don’t work out. I’ll shoot them an email. This is when having the boat close to you would be helpful so you can just measure real quick. The gel coat ones looks pretty sweet. It’s not fun to barely sit on the back of the current platforms. Especially in April/May when the water is still cold.

Definitely don’t want more work filling holes. The width is the same size as the current platform so that should line up well with the current support brackets. Length wise is the only issue. The steps are sort of wedged in. I’ll attach a picture to show what I mean by wedged. Not sure if that helps at all with the added length.

I see you're actually losing a couple inches with that lip on the boat. You might be able to actually move the existing steps out, or get the new longer ones, but I think you would probably need to lengthen the the supports, which shouldn't be a big problem for most shops.

What makes teak so expensive is not just the cost of the wood. The high silica content destroys tools quick. You get maybe 20 board feet of it on your jointed knives and it's time too resharpen/ replace them. Which is normally a 2 hour job as they can be a pita to get reset. Carbide helps, but not enough.

Yep, that is where you lose some depth with that lip. And the rub rail hits the center of your back. Im guesting making a custom fiberglass deck with the way the boat contours in the back would be $$$. Thinking of just ordering the news ones and having the brackets extended or new brackets made with the same holes like you suggested. Our neighbor in Havasu is retired and use to weld so he might be able to help out. Removing the black foam material on thee old steps is a bitch. It was put on before gator step or sea tek became popular. Had too many slip on the teak so we had that installed. It held up, but started to come apart now.
