As title stated.

I don’t want to get pressure treated wood because it stains the gel. Should I also epoxy coat the wood for longevity?

Thanks guys.

I have no idea tbh. But with my last boat I’ve noticed a greenish stain where the bunks were. I just used regular bunk carpet I got at west marine.

Pressure treated lumber is impregnated with copper and can leave a stain.

Stains the gel? What kinda carpet ?

School me on this “staining”
My buddy does bunks for a living, he always uses pressure treated lumber, it stained a bottom of a boat. and he got sues, hence, regular Fir, water sealed not.

I used regular 2x4's, and Thompson water sealed them.
I talked to a guy in town that does trailer bunks he told me he uses Thompsons sprayed on with a bug/yard sprayer. In havasu I just bought a full roll(140) feet of bunk carpet from shadow trailers.

I’m sold on “bunk slicks”. There are several kinds out there. Easier to load and unload boat and allows water to drain off to prevent rot and gel damages.

I’m just using wood and carpet. I like the look of it and @n2otoofast4u is right. I won’t have this boat for very long.

I made my own boards for a trailer once using cheap industrial polyethylene. Lubricated with silicone spray. Worked quite well.

As to the wood, don’t over-complicate it. Skater uses 2x4s from southern pine for bunks. I replaced some with Swedish pine. Boat runs just as fast.

Anyone install these yet
Yes I have done multiple trailers with them. One was their grey/silver color the rest in black. It has held up well and never had an issue so far with any of them. I use their stainless bolts kit and countersink it, with nylock backing nuts, it stays tight.

The one thing I will say, and they say it too, their stuff is slick when wet. Make sure trailer winch strap is always connected until the moment of launching, and don’t retrieve without making sure the winch strap is locked before pulling out. I’ve never had anything bad happen but we are careful about it and after awhile it becomes second nature.
