I was going to do the Carvana deal a while ago. Found what I was looking for, even had financing lined up. Figured I didn't have anything to lose since it was 10 days (?) money back gaurantee. Then I started reading some reviews, quite a few strings attached to the 10 days delio. Like they will deliver to your house, but you have to return the car to their distribution center and such.

It is an interesting buying model for sure.

Apparently they will deliver the car to you to look it over and test drive. I think I'm going to pass and try and find one through private party or an actual dealership.

theres also "fair" where you can purchase a vehicle and give it back at any point in time. most of them are used vehicles on dealerships that would rather get money per month than have depreciating assets just sitting in a lot taking up space.

it's just amazing to me that there are companies like Vroom and Carvana that are geared to millennials and weak minded people who don't want to go to a dealership and make eye contact. My business partner worked on the Carvana business model, did a bunch of the research, and they found their target customer would pay 6% more just to do it on line and not deal with a person. Good for Carvana and the likes, take their money.

I just bought two new cars recently, one because I wanted a new TOAD for the motorhome and the other to replace my wife's car from an accident. I took my son with me both times so he can see the process and understand it, and I can point out the tricks and BS. Things he needs to know to be a man and take care of himself. No hair buns here.

Some people just don't have skills to survive, that's ok. Pls go back to looking at your smart phone.

I have never trusted used cars through a dealer. Many are fine, but many were driven hard and put away wet with little, if any servicing. A lot are auction cars...so you have no idea of their history. I try to buy through private parties. You can generally get a much better idea of how the vehicle has been treated by talking to the owner, and it's very likely you'll get a better price too. It's more legwork, especially if you need a loan, but I've never been burned.

I was only looking at Vroom because they had a car I was interested in and was a few thousand dollars cheaper than the local dealer. I have no issues going to the dealer and haggling over the price.
