I'm a fan of Milgard Tuscany Windows. They are a vinyl dual glazed window. I get them with the title 24 package which increases their efficiency. Good bang for the buck window. Great warranty and service after the installation.

I have 40 years in glazing construction, Milgard will work fine. I might add the following options.

Tinted grey glass, ask about Greylite 31. Low E is standard, but ask about other Low E options and thier added price.

Argon, pass. Not needed in this warm enviroment.

Vinyl frames, ask about tan vs white

Grids, cosmetic stuff, looks cool in 9 lite single margin if you like, again ask about added cost.

Triple Glaze....You bet, in Alaska!!!!

So lets recap,

Vinyl frame, dual glaze, tinted low e glass, thickest frame they offer, better insulate quality. Milgard is just one manufacture, they are others. Research, ask questions, get prices.....Bid one against other, make them be competetive. Saves you $$$

Never had a problem with Milgard, customer service is excellent.
We had a very wide patio slider (their maximum width) on a job that was hard to open and close. Tech came out, looked at it then came back and added some wheels. Has been flawless since.

Higher end we prefer Marvin

The thing that makes it easy for me with Milgard at least here on the West coast is the warranty includes the service work. A lot of the homes I've built with Andersen and others I end up getting the call 6 years later because the Manufacturer will provide the piece of hardware, glass panel etc but the homeowner is stuck with dealing with the repair. The newer Milgard fiberglass clad wood veneer interior and Aluminum clad with wood interiors are actually pretty high quality units IMO when compared to some of the Marvin, Kolbe, Pella, and Andersen lines.

I installed Pella upstairs with argon and I believe what they called grey tint about seven years ago. I have never been impressed. With the afternoon sun shining on them their hot to the touch and I'm not sure that's correct. When I first installed them I contacted their customer service and just really got the runaround! I'd stay away from Pella !

We used Hardy Windows and was very pleased. The windows were manufactured by a Colorado Company, can't remember the name, but really happy with the windows, installation and level of service.

I'm looking to do downstairs. What manufacture do they use and how are their prices?

Affordable Glass is our family business.
Call Larry today and let him know what you need. He'll also be out at the boat show Saturday walking around in one of our shirts.

We mostly install using Madison Windows.

Prices vary from quantity, size, and type your after.
Had a customer come in for a quote last week, ended up ordering through us and said we were nearly half of what he was quoted from somewhere else :thumbsup
