The Igloo Cooler on the boat sits under a seat, under the bimini, never gets direct sunlight or heat and it's usually a 72 degree day or cooler in Catalina, but just won't hold ice but for fast melting 6 to 8 hours.
Would the Yeti perform better?

They ain't cheap, the Yeti we're looking at is $300.
Worth it?

I don't have one, but I have quite a few friends that do. The owner of the first one I saw mentioned that they are no better than an average cooler if you just throw in a bag of ice and go. His trick was to cool it down first, then it would hold ice for the weekend. He would bring it inside a day in advance and let it cool overnight then the next morning put some ice in it and plan on reloading ice in the afternoon before he left for the weekend. Doing the same thing with a regular cooler makes a difference too.

My AO cooler works better than that. Maybe you need more ice in there...

Use a block of ice in the bottom. Also with the money wouldn't it be better to get a dometic?

IMHO Igloo changed the density of there insulation a few years back... Bought a 72 qt Marine chest in 2002. Bought the same cooler again in 2012.

The '12 burns through Ice, while the '02 keeps Ice for a few days.

I don't own and have never used a Yeti, but "IF" I were spending that kind of $$$ on a cooler I'd spend the extra and get a comparable Frigid Rigid :thumbsup

Yes they are, had one that was 94qt, that had a small leak at the drain. My dad threw it out :grumble:

I have both coolers - Yeti works better but is way heavier empty. It is substantially more durable though. Everything has tradeoffs I guess...

Ya mean the Dometic ice chest or refer?

Our boat has 2 Direct expansion Dometics and they are full of food for a 2 week trip to the island.
Not unusual for only PBR to be available in the stores so you bring your CL's and BL's.

PBR is OK super cold,, but it wears on you after a while and Bud Light or Stellas tastes sooo good

Has anyone bought or used the $30 Yeti stainless steel Koozie? Wondering if it really makes any sort of difference? The website claims they do.
