I’m sure the 40 mph winds may have something to do with it.😆
Of course, the talking heads were discussing how that green wasn’t designed to hold mid irons (which is what they were hitting because of the wind).

Fun to watch anyway…

Played David L Baker in Fountain Valley last night. Tee'd off at 4:45pm and ended up playing all 18 without any of those light up golf balls that fly like bottle rockets with the stick cutoff. Only lost 2 balls that we couldn't find. Ended up shooting something in the upper 80's (we were more focused on catching a good Friday night buzz which I'm regretting this morning). Playing there again Sunday afternoon.
Well did better than Friday night but still had a lot of bad holes. Started off strong with a chip in birdie after that the front nine 7’s didn’t help. Managed a lot of bad shots so I’m happy with that.

I’m a shitty golfer but the weather was nice and the beers were cold.

Played Royal Vista yesterday. The weather was amazing, but my tee shots with the 2 iron were soooooo bad. I hate that club so much but I’m determined to figure it out. Ended up with a 88, no lost balls, everyone is still alive, it was a good day.

Played Angel Park Palms course in Vegas on Friday. If you miss a fairway you better watch out for snakes. OB can be a canyon or a cactus patch.

Carded an 83 on a windy day.......I was happy.

Played Balboa Park early today. Weather turned out great. This is a tough little course. Seems they keep us in canyons or on ridges for a lot of the holes. Too much right or left and your ball disappears! Had a few cool views of downtown San Diego.

See the big area out in the distance where the ground is white. The old SCE coal plant was there for about 35 years. Gone!
The plant could not compete with combined cycle gas plants in the power market and the emission/ash killed the plant. We tried to sell it and dad zero buyers. It It It was like a 1970 Vette trying to compete with 2022 Vette! No contest.

Got a chance to play Bel Air today. First guy my host introduced me to, “hey Doug, meet Jerry.” Of course it was Jerry West. Not like I didn’t have the yips already.

Thank god I got off the first tee without skulling it.

How did you do? Ron is in town and played Needles, he made sure to text me he shot a 81 today!
That’s a damn good round by Ron. I doubled 9 and shot a 39 on the front. Had that same rough patch in the through about 14. Ended with an 84. I’d love to go back and play again. Tons of holes that were tough to play if you didn’t know where to hit. I probably had 10 - 4’ par saves.

Played arroyo Trabuco last week while I was at my moms house she’s about 5 min away was fun course.

Playing Serrano tomorrow morning with a couple cousins before I head back home.

When we were kids we use to go to arroyo Trabuco when it was a rock quarry and fish the ponds. Back then it was all hills and cattle ranch where ladera is too.

Staying at the Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix and playing Devil's Claw and Cat Tail at the Whirlwind Golf Club the end of the month.

Wasn't the most interesting course, but was in great shape. Has a great time.

Played one of my favorite muni's today in a big cash game. It's medium difficult. Driver was a shit show all day, pop ups no distance and flat out hit one off the shaft. All irons were fading to the right but didn't make any adjustments. Shot a 39 on front with 3 birdies and 44 on the back. I did putt it really well, made probably 6 puts around 20 feet. 3 doubles on the back killed me.

Los Serranos courses are a damn good test. Gotta be able to hit it decent off the tee especially with the wind.

Wind was getting mild breezy about hole 15 we tee off at 6:40 though went quick.but improved on hitting driver i started winding back more for full swing instead of like 3/4 swing and was getting ball higher and longer drive.tried other clubs i am not great at and figured somethings out didnt take score but par 2 holes one was 18.was happy today no doubt.Couple holes i choked think 17 i did bad.but there were 2 holes that have big dog legs think 14,15 both in a row i did good on them 1 over par which is good for me.

We played the north course.go home wed so gonna try and play a good course at home in phx on friday im fairly new to golf but learn every time out only been playing about 1.5 years but like it

I’ll take the desert courses any day. Love firm fast fairways and greens. LS has Kikuyu fairways and rough. It’s the same stuff as Riviera CC. It’s like Velcro. If you can figure it out you can pretty much play anything IMO.

First time playing at Old Ranch… it was a social round and I made the mistake of not asking where the danger was a few times which were the big number holes. Greens were also just punched so that never helps. Driver improved a lot and had mostly consistent iron play.

Played up in Camarillo yesterday with my wife and brother in law. Picked up a Ping G425 3 wood on Saturday which came in handy on the long par 4s and 5s. Had a few bad shots with it but overall happy with the round. Walked the course which had more elevation than I expected so my wife and I got a workout to say the least.

Almost picked up an ace on six, it was within a foot of the pin.

I’m playing a Ping 425 Max driver. Best driver I’ve ever had, if you like the fairway wood you should try the driver.

Paiute looks Awesome. Next time I am out there that will be the course.

Played El Camino in Oceanside today. Normally the greens are silly fast, but they were shaggy today. I missed a lot of putts a few inches short.... Carded 89, and any day under 90 there is a good one!

I've been hit and miss with my drives overall so I have been hesitant to change anything but a G425 driver is at the top of the list. Looking to upgrade my irons and my driver in the near future and want to get fitted, thinking of going to Golftec. Anyone recommend a good fitting spot in North OC?

Haven’t played out there for quite awhile. The 9 with the stone house is pretty cool. What kinda shape is it in?
It’s in good shape greens rolled great! I’m not a fan of the stone side I like the original 18 (creek/oak) better but it still was a great afternoon of work/golf.

How were the tee boxes? I played there about 6 weeks ago and they were in terrible shape for a $100 round!
Tees not sure what to tell you but given the amount of play most courses are getting and they’re on over seeded Bermuda towards the transition period. It’s not great rye season and not yet Bermuda so I’d expect them to be a little thin but that’s what wood tees are for.

Back from Kauai. Wailua is a great course, especially for a muni. $48 bucks to play on a week day. $30 to rent clubs, $20 for the cart. Had an awesome day there. I actually carded an 86 with beater Taylor Made clubs on an unfamiliar course. I was pretty happy. If you're in Kauai, don't pass it up.

Back to Torrey Pines South on Tuesday.

But it was still good to be on course.
