Cruel World 2025

Alright this is the lineup for 2025. Was on the fence but there are a few bands that I really want to see. Who else is going?

Alison Moyet from Yaz - never thought she would tour the US, super pumped she has an incredible voice
Death Cult (the Cult) - the only US stop and reunion which will never happen again
Blancmange - I don't know if they've ever toured the US (?) so yeah...
Devo and OMD were both supposed to retire and OMD cancelled their recebt tour so both of them are also last chance to see them deals. And Devo straight kicked ass at the last CW performance
Madness is another oddball along with the Buzzocls
Garbage and Shirley Manson are always good
GoGos are always fun too
Nick Cave has a great voice
and New Order - I imagine they are close to calling it quits too

So yes, 11 groups we want to see but I'm sure there will be major schedule conflicts

But excited, woot woot

Come on Clarence - this is your one and only chance, ever, to see Death Cult. Fly out...

Yeah, you were living under a rock. This is the good sh!t that was played in the 80s/90s on KROQ. I am sure there will be a mix on Spotify shortly with a good mix of the music.

I’ll file a report. Buddy just saw Devo at Ohana and said they were great. If “Death Cult” is “The Cult” with Ian singing, saw them at Red Rocks 2 years or so ago with STP and Bush. STP and Bush ripped it, Cult . . . not so much

Wow, fine review there C-2. Seeing the Yaz name just popped one of their songs into my head. Devo, Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark, Garbage, Go Gos, New Order . . . that’s some lineup.

Usually the show sells out, but as the date moves closer they open up more tics, so keep that in mind. I hope it works out, they are fun shows.

Then again, we got to see Iggy and Gary Numan twice and they both did better the second time around.

In that show we saw at Red Rocks, Bush opened the show with blazing guitars playing Machinehead. There was a beer festival preceding the show and I was well tuned up. Gavin Rosdale was in great shape physically and voice box too. He shredded the ax, crowd surfed and generally lit the place up. They were the opening act. T. Cult didn’t stand a chance.

Funny how music can affect us viscerally, and that was one such moment.

Well, if it was Southern Death Cult . . .

Usually have a golf trip in May, but if it doesn't conflict it'd be a great time.

Been trying to go to this for years…just never make it. Seen a lot of bands this year…last one was The Cult…epic show. Vina Robles in Paso Robles had a lot of great shows this year and last year. Saw a multi lineup a couple months ago…Flock of seagulls, Missing Persons, Wang Chung, The English Beat, The Vapors, Dramarama, Animotion, Musical Youth and Stacey Q. In the Spring we saw Squeeze open for the Psyc Furs…that show was unreal!

See them if ya can…the 80’s greats are aging out!

I looked for other New Order dates. Two shows in Mexico City, and Cruel World is all that they have planned.

I know they can be tight but it is totally doable. Have done it several years now and we have it dialed in and it is a great weekend. We get our walking in and hang in the VIP section to relax and escape the crowd. The big stage is right at the front of the VIP so we are right there.

I think the schedule is great this year, they stuck all the up and coming bands on the 3rd stage. The exception being The Cult/Death Cult. I'm surprised Ian is agreeable to it, they have more cred than one-hit wonder Til Tuesday.

My only conflict is Garbage or Devo. We will probably see Devo again since this is supposed to be their last tour, whereas we've seen Garbage a couple of times and I'm sure they will continue to tour in the future.

I've been trying to listen to Death Cult but it's hard lol. I read they will play Death Cult and songs from the first 2 Cult records, so I've been focusing on those 2 records. IMO, they didn't find their sound until "Electric."

Here is how I help the wife with the listing of bands. We have a great friend that we met there a couple of years ago. Music is his life so he knows the good and bad. I use the listing and use green, yellow and red rectangles. It helps identify over laps better and we decide where to be and when. Looks like this year is going to be a good one. We also do the VIP section and have a game plan which makes the day more comfortable for us old F’ers.

Green=don’t want to miss
Yellow=don’t know or don’t care if missed
Red=no efforts what so ever

Some times the wife and I split up and go with friends to one stage or another. It is great to have people that the wife can go off and enjoy what she wants adn I don’t have to worry about her.

You also don’t know who you just might run into. This event puts my wife in her happy place each year and we really have come to enjoy the time. Post up if you are in the VIP section it will be easy to met up as the crowds are much smaller.

I tried and concluded he is not the type of act that would be good live. Let alone, at a festival.
