Why do you think Newsom sent a letter saying to snuggle up to the oil industry ?

All Californians, hell, all American voters, should pay attention to the shift Newsom is trying to engineer. He now has a podcast, and has also been making statements in the press, that indicate an alien has taken over his body. The guest on his first podcast was Charlie Freekin' Kirk.

There aren't any more rants about climate change. He now supports moderate positions, like relaxing the mandate to ban diesel powered freight haulers.

Pay attention.

When Gov. Gavin Newsom launched his new podcast last month, he touted it as an opportunity to understand the MAGA movement’s motivations and figure out a path forward for Democrats after the party’s bruising losses in the 2024 election.

But the early response has predominantly been bewilderment — from supporters, critics and the public alike — as listeners struggle to make sense of Newsom’s intentions, his political evolution and what the show signals for his leadership of California.

The governor’s about-face from leading critic of President Donald Trump to MAGA-curious pundit comes at a critical moment for the state, as California launches legal battles against Trump administration policies and faces potentially hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding cuts.

Republicans have dismissed Newsom’s concerted shift to the center on some issues as disingenuous and roasted him for diverting his attention away from solving the state’s problems. Even many allies who applaud Newsom for reaching across the ideological aisle were troubled by his early guests and how the governor boosted their ultraconservative views.

That has created a conundrum for those trying to understand how what Newsom says in these casual conversations may translate to his day job running the biggest state in the country. When his remarks generate headlines — as they did during the controversial first episode featuring the Trump-aligned activist Charlie Kirk, where Newsom called it “deeply unfair” for transgender athletes to participate in girls’ sports — his office refuses to clarify his positions.

Edit: Apparently Cal Matters is unaware California is not the biggest state in the country. The left is truly operating in a vacuum.

It feels like many of us are being held hostage on our own island...
I dont know how this clown talks out of both sides of his mouth. One side, Screw DJT we are "Trump proofing" California and remain a santuary state, but by the way we need all of that federal funding for the CA Fire victims.
This guy has nobodys best intrest in mind but his own. Its frustrating to read all of the states where gas of all things has hit a record low yet here in CA, it keeps creeping up for every reason under the sun.

I did the math once regarding price of fuel, boat motor gallons per mile, island to Pirates mileage etc.
I really shouldn’t have replied to the wife’s text asking me for that information about mileage there that turned into miles per gallon etc. Never realized how expensive a trip it really is.
It all started with a guy at the sandbar telling her he saves a lot of money not going up farther to Pirates. 🤦‍♂️ Big mistake stopping there. We never go to the sandbar

Rarely go that far anymore. I'm a toon and it's kinda dumb for gas. How many miles is it one from the bridge. I need to do the math just for the fuck of it

Going to have to make a River trip every other week like I used to. Fill up in Parker.
Been doing that for 25 years, I have a 55 gallon tank in the bed of my pickup( Like a fuel cell), everyone assumes its Diesel for the truck, It's boat gas in the summer, off road gas in the winter, and it gets filled up on the way home every trip. saves a buck or two and gives me a great place to store my hitch and tie downs.

Also saves towing stuff to town for fuel

Why do so many of you waste time worrying or paying attention to what "could" happen? Anything can happen! Is it because your hate for California runs so deep that you're just hoping it comes true? Go do something!

when he ran for Governor there was a ballot initiative on the Death Penalty. He said he would support the will of the people. It passed and he got elected. Shortly after, he shut down the death Penalty. This guy will say anything to get elected. Scary

Gas tax is like $1.15 a gallon now, and due to go up I think. Do we have gasoline pipelines coming in from other states?

From everything I read, AZ is going to get some price hikes as well. There are only so much refinery capacity.
