@DILLIGAF how'd the chippin go? Never seen an update on that..
I got some chipping done cheap by some guys trimming trees on the side. Still have the big piles on the lower property and that will get done with a rental. Also been taking new cuttings, throwing in the trailer and going to the dump. Decided against buying one because something I would really want is out of budget. That inexpensive one I decided against it due to volume and size. Gotta have the right tools to get the job done

My aunts late husband (my uncle i never met) is his cousin. When he was killed Clint send her a check for $50k and she would periodically get checks from him for their kid(my cousin Charlie who is a year older then me)
Thats awesome he has helped out.

If you go with Badboy, get the ZT Elite or higher, don't bother with the Rambler and don't settle for the Kholer motor. Or, give Gravely a look. By the time I got to the ZT Elite pricing, I was right in the neighborhood of the Gravely that I was really wanting. The 3 things I was really focused on were deck thickness and Badboy has that on all their models, engine (had to be the Kawasaki, and trans (had to be a 2800 or higher). Lastly, I really didn't want something that had been sitting out in the weather for a year. I found a dealer that was all indoors.
Actually I think it was the ZT Elite I sat in.

Whats the problem with the Kohler motors?

FWIW, my dad just bought a Bad Boy and is very happy with it so far. I have no idea which model. Knowing my mom, it was the cheapest model they had.

Probably nothing on this application (2 cylinder). The single cylinder ones are the ones having issues reported. However, more of the techs favor the Kawasaki motors. Ford vs Chevy I guess. But you'll notice the Kawasaki will cost more on the same model in any brand of mower. Do some reading on it, you'll either see folks saying the Kohler is good or the Kawasaki is better, but you'll never see one saying the Kohler is better, just that it's good. At my age, I'm sure it's going to outlive me anyway.

I am going to look into it. Then you also have the Briggs Stratton engines.

Sorry to hear your electric experience shorted out.

😁

Walking past my new mower yesterday, I noticed the blade tip had stopped in the discharge chute when it shut off, so I took a photo. The deck is 61" wide.

The blade is ¼" hardened steel, and the cutting edge is machined. My mowing time on two acres has been reduced over 50% compared to the Toro 42" lawn tractor.

I have a 54” bad boy. Damn thing is indestructible. I honestly beat the crap out of it. It eats Rocks branches for breakfast. 4 years with 0 let downs. New blades every season (dont get high lift…dusty as fuck) and I’m set. My 300# ass walks all over the deck to get off and it doesnt even care!! My only regret is not getting the 60+ inch. This one fits through my gate so I went with it. Takes me 3.5 hours to mow my yard. I think the 60 would reduce that by an hour. Highly recommend.

I think I’ve mentioned this before, but my daughter jumped horses with his granddaughter. They rode in a show together near his home, and got to stay at his place.

We told her if she got his autograph on her saddle, we’d buy her a new one. The autographed saddle is on display near my pool table.

What do you use to lift it so you can change the blades?

Do you use a mulching blade? I plan on letting all cuttings just decompose.

It's a Bobcat ZT3000. It was spendy, but I think bought long term dependability and superior performance.

Nice. Congrats. That one is gonna be a bit out of budget.

I am going to upsize to a 54" but so many obstacles to get around for me.

So...Started looking at the Ariel Icon as it comes with the Kawasaki engine. Going to go to Lowes tomorrow and check it out. Less expensive than the Bad Boy for sure

I think I want the kawi motor.

Ariel is a good build, no dealers near me though. I bought at a dealer so if I had the need for warranty service, I have a relationship established.

Have you thought about buying a small tractor with mower attachment? Like a Kubota bx23? It would be useful for a lot of things on a property your size.

No money for that right now but a tractor will eventually find its way here sooner or later. Love the Kubota products just have other priorities right now.

So....I ordered a Cub Cadet 50" with the Kawi motor. Was on sale and will be here Friday. Wanted to stick with the Kawi motor and this one was the best value dollar wise IMO. Only "options" I ordered were the mulching blades. Will be adding the hour meter (comes prewired and you just plug it in).

Some of the others I looked at exceeded price points and did not have the engine I wanted. I really liked the Bad Boy mower but in the end I could not justify the added expense.

Did you check Facebook Marketplace before buying? Two of my buddies in Celina and Flower Mound got some sweet John Deere mowers for less than 1/4 retail…..they pop up pretty consistently.

How did you return the electric? Please say you drove it through the return line at Costco.

I'd suggest you have a couple cheeseburgers ready when she gets there.
She looks like she can get pretty hangry.😶😲

Today the new one gets delivered along with the elec one gets picked up. Costco called me last night and left a voice mail. They will not take the batteries/chargers back as they are hazardous material. All they need is the lawn mower and attachments and thats it.

Those 80V 4ah lithium batteries are between $150-200 when new and I got 12 with the mower. I will find a use for them for sure. I might sell them as well......the charges are 3 dual charger units. Those go for maybe $100 each as well

Love how Costco has handled this. Its a shame they don't sell gas powered ride mowers or I would def buy it from them.

So the new Club Cadet just showed. Completely rusted blades and scratches. Requesting new blades and touch up paint. Looks like the spindles need replaced as well. Dont think they will argue with me. The national cs line said it should not be a problem but needs run by the local manager.

The alternative is to come pick it up :)

Never a dull moment but there are dull blades it seems. Lol

Huh... This was a brand new unit right? Makes me think it was the floor model on a demo day or something.

I think Kawasaki engines are better because they don't offer engines built down to the price points of some Kohlers and Briggs - but as noted, you pay for this.
On zt's, the transmission you get is more important than the engine IMO. HydroGear is the biggest player in the consumer, light industrial segment like we're talking about here.
Thery're easy to research but you want to get a mower that has replaceable transmission filters.

It’s a sign. Back out while you can and bump the budget just a tad. The fact they’d even deliver it that way is telling. JMO
