Played with a buddy of mine hidden Valley in Norco. It is a tough track just because it’s narrow at least for me. It is anyway lol my buddy shoots about the same as me we usually shoot low 90s occasional high 80s. This guy shoots his ass off and shoots a one over par 73. I couldn’t believe it on the back we started off he did par birdie, eagle birdie par. 😮

I believe golf can be scored many ways. My ways I'm still a horrible golfer but a great golf pairing. We bring comedy with us.

In my 20s I scored by beers drank. My high score was over 20 (I know I'm a lightweight) but I saw a 48 once.

In my 30s it was a beer vs stokes over par. Aka shoot a 92 but drank 20 and you shot a ZERO... under par was the goal.

Now, in my 40s it is how many balls I lose per round. I shot one of my lowest ball scores of all time last week. Only lost 4 balls but it was an executive 9 hole course so.... I'm improving.

I played Hidden valley a few months ago, tought track for sure. I think I lost 4 or 5 balls that round when I normal can keep a ball a full round or two.

That first hole has more than a few of mine. Same with the dog leg right, dead ass downhill par 4.
Played there the first time with Deacon Jones. It was shortly after it opened. We made it 9 holes. The wind was brutal.

We play tomorrow at Dos Lagos since they don’t have a driving range, he’s gonna wake up early to go over to goose Creek to hit balls and then drive over to those Lagos to play. I know that scores in his head that’s for sure. Lol

Funny story about that place! I hate playing that course and it’s not because it’s hard but because of the design. Now I understand that they only had so much land to squeeze it in but still.

So last December I’m playing golf with a group I put together for a big superintendent event at Coto de Caza and we start talking courses and designs now keep in mind I put this group together. So I start talking about hidden valley and how much I don’t like the course and its design. Blind shots to fairways a 1st hole par 5 you can hit 3wood wedge to the green and so on. Well guess who forgot who was riding in my golf cart with me for the last 11 holes! That’s right me! Guess who my playing partner was! That’s right Casey! Casey who? Casey O'Callaghan!! You know the guy that designed Hidden Valley!
Not the 1st or last time I’ll put my foot in my mouth!

Lol hopefully he goes low again. Golf is crazy. It has been years since I shot in the 100's but the last time I did, I got a hole in 1 on hole 2 at my local track, then proceeded to shoot the worst round I could.

We do a lot for bighorn. The homes in that community are crazy. There isn’t a leaf that is out of place there. The guys who run the greens and maint crew are Oscar and Cheeto lol.
Oscar and Cheeto have the place pretty dialed. Not sure how they keep up with the landscaping. I need to spend a day with them on how to keep desert plants alive.

Daughter & SIL were recently at St Andrews, the old course. It is open to the public. Green Fees - about $450 USD. SIL opted to just hit a bucket of balls.

Anybody have any input on golfing in the Caribbean? Not Mexico, not Puerto Rico and not the DR.

25th year at Bighorn. Never gets old. I start tuning up 6 weeks out. 40 of the OG crew plays a Ryder Cup event the weekend before. It’s a reunion / 3 day long shit talking fest. 😂
25th? Sounds epic!

Played the other day with a guy hitting a Qi35 driver. Sounded great with a nice crack coming off the face, and it was hitting it far and straight.

Played TCI today hit most drives in the 295-315 range all day with my trusty Cleveland launcher Comp from 2002. Friend that works for Taylor made gave me on of they’re Ryder cup special made drivers a few years ago but it just sits on the sidelines I could’ve come to terms with it.

But I still play my Ben hogan apex 6 blades and I’ve had free clubs given to me from all the big companies but I’m just stubborn that way.

If people would just stick with what they got and learn to play they’d get better a lot faster.

I stayed with my off the shelf calloway irons from over a decade before switching to my fitted set and it was a big game changer for me, shaved several strokes off but I did recently change the shafts again, they were just to heavy and causing stupid misses and injuries. I've had the ping 410 driver for going on 6 years. I hit it pretty dam with the current shaft set up. I keep thinking it's time for a new one but your right I think if I change now I am going to regress and my driver is the part of my game right now.

Played with blades for a long time. Mizuno and Titliest. Combination of not playing enough and swing speed caused me to switch to CB. Playing 790’s now. Trying to get used to the new lofts but like them overall. The titliest’ still come out when I’m struggling with tempo/focus. Calms me down a bit

The only club that’s stayed in my bag throughout the years is my Scotty Cameron Mil-Spec putter, ive had it for close to 25 years. Otherwise I’m a club junkie and always trying something new.

I used to go to the OG Roger Dunn in Santa Ana. Switched to the one at the driving range at the Islands when it opened. Cut some damn good deals before they put trade-in values into their system.

Played a 4 man scramble today. Pretty shitty lol. 6 under. I'm a single digit, buddy's range from a 12ish to a 30ish. Pretty sad when most drives were pushing 300 or over in the fairways. Started on hike 8. On the back side we did okay okay 4 under but the front killed us. Could not birdie, just like me playing solo lol.

I need to dial in on my irons. I'm Pin high most of the time but missing both sides..

Took my first lesson today at the Navy course. Worked on irons mainly.
I hit 3 large baskets, I'm trying to hit 3 larges every weekend for 6 months.

Awesome. As long as you have some lesson or direction so you're practicing the right away you'll be dialed in no time.

I played for work yesterday at oak quarry. First time playing it. Beautiful course. Some iconic holes for sure.

Honestly I think I played better then I have in a while. Score card did not reflect it all the way at an 81. But I didn't warm up and not knowing the course put me in some bad spots early on even with good shots.

Putting could have been better. I only had 1 birdie and it was not on the par 4 eagle putt hole that I pared lol.

It felt good to have almost everything firing at once, but dam I wish I shaved a few strokes.

Played Marshal canyon in LA Verne for the 1st time today. Fun course for the price! Shot a 77 with 1 over on the back. Driver was off a bit, that sucked since that's been dialed but I got a few birds with the putting so if off set. Best score in a while. I'll take it.
