I only have experience with a diode laser and it will leave a nice burn mark on the tile, if it cuts it at all. I'd lean towards water jet

Couldn't that be cut on a CNC router and a diamond bit? I know I have cut porcelain tile radius' with a regular router and a diamond bit.

Fukif I know, lol
we have radius bits for grinders for bullnose and radius facing tiles. But nothing for this type of work.
thats why I’m asking for ideas. She wants cursive or similar in teal or black tile, brass would prolly work too. But like individual tiles that would be set in floor before pebble. It was a joke that turned into well can you? I know it can be done Iv seen inlays of logos etc in tile.
actually would consider company logo cut tiles to put in pool or decks also.

@rivergames what options ya got?

Waterjet for sure. There are quite a few shops in so cal that do that work. Not all will be willing to take it on but it can be done.

Have you thought about painting it with some sort of thick textured paint or some acrylic material, you can get it to look like almost anything?

I've used Deco Stone for some incredible water jet designs for many large projects. Great to deal with. Talk with Javier. Tell him Andrew with Premier Tile recommended them. https://decostonedesign.com/

This is in the Clippers Arena. The 8"x8" diagonal tiles were waterjetted out of 24"x48". The perimeter was right under 12" so all Joints aligned perfectly.

The backsplash is in my house in Los Angeles. The stone is from the owners club out in SoFi Stadium. I had it waterjetted to that shape and sheet mounted from the large pieces from the floor.

Water jet would be the way to go for tiles . Just to throw out an alternative, you said that it's a pebble tec pool so you could make a stencil mold to do the script inlay in one color then finish around it with a different color for the rest of the pool.

Like an Ice Skating Rink!

Thanks! There are 2 of these restrooms we tiled in Ballmers Personal Bar in Inuit Dome. I forgot, we had every piece in this section of the bar waterjetted too! Each large format tile was cut and labeled to go exactly where it needed too. Then we can cut around the perimeter. This is the ULTIMATE MAN CAVE! We installed all the tile and stone on the walls. I had to put my brain into action to get this layout tits.

What’s the surface area?
for inside of swimming pool
want to set like tile in floor or step. Pebble pool finish will be aqua white pebble with teal glass and abalone ( it will be tiffany blue water color )
So I’m thinking black porcelain to contrast.
stainless is an option, but worry it won’t hold up long term. It’s a salt water pool. I suppose submerged with no exposure to air, it might survive
brass would hold up but nothing else that color. Could coat it, but long term No coatings hold it up in pools
template for contrasting pebble or plaster would work, but keeping a fine line between finishes and color bleed would be a concern. And don’t want to make customer guinea pig and say ooops sorry that didn’t work how I wanted , lol

Also would be interested in doing company logo tiles for pools and a plate to stamp logo in concrete work

This is for a smokin hot single mom that is paying big dollars for her backyard on her own, not from OF and not from alimony income, she pays her ex alimony
when we get done I’ll post pics, some of the pool too 🤣

Water jet

Question
Doesnt the handrail and SS stairs on commercial pool hold up?

You might need to talk to a metal guy about which grade of SS to use

316 SS thick wall and, no they don’t hold up on standard chlorine commercial pools, avg get a few years and replace
salt commercial will get a year

most everything that fails is at waterline and above. So always submerged maybe, but would feel better about tile

all are set up to be replaced as needed.

Lettering in the finish would need to last as long as pool finish life ( pebble min 25 + years )

Call Andy Myers at Myer's Machining in Pasadena, He is on Walnut just a couple blocks down the street from Brummett's. Been in the waterjet business for 20 years doing this type of work.
