Anybody here have the new Makita Mak Trak cases?

Looking at all the diff cases and liking this a lot, but haven't tried or put hands on them yet.

Familiar with Milwaukee pakout, and some of the independent stuff.

Interesting, never seen these before. I would have to see one in person, they are pretty pricey. I would need to see how well made they are.

Pretty slick system. You don’t have to unbundle to open any of the chests. Also a bit easier to load in the back of a truck.

As well most of the larger units lids are bidirectional so you can flip open the entire stack anywhere in either direction.

The ease of getting the whole stack into your truck is pretty sweet.

About the only criticism I can find is that some of the units dont have handles on every side, and that the main handles does not have a super secure lock when pushed in all the way.

I am on jobsites everyday and rarely see anyone with Makita. Milwaukee and Dewalt are the clear front runners.

Not sure if you are referring to the tools or the boxes which are generic by and large.

The color of the worksite tools seems to be both a regional and work type thing.

What kind of work do you do?

Construction tool wise.. Makita has the best cordless 7 1/4" skilsaw hands down. Dewalt has the best cordless framing nail gun. Milwaukee has the best pretty much everything else cordless. Imo

These pack outs look legit though!!

Ohh and Makita does make a pretty cool cordless coffee maker though!

Electrician. I see Milwaukee packout boxes everywhere. Seems like most trade guys buy the boxes that match their tools. I'm curious how well these Makita boxes will sell. They look nice!

I've been buying the Milwaukee Packout for the last couple years, but the new bigger Dewalt toolbox stuff is pretty freakin cool. I was impressed when I messed with it at Home Depot.

Thanks.

Packout was the first really cool system, and I see it a lot regardless of the tools inside.

Just checked them out at PARRLumber. They are really well built but hell, throw a couple tools in and you couldn't lift them in the truck. They are very well built but heavy as hell. I like that you can open from either side, that is a cool feature.

thats what i think as well. the systems are really cool, but damn load it up and try to lift it into the truck. I dont do construction for a living, but a lot of my stuff is "grouped" into bags like these.

and then i have the "bucket". it takes care of most of the minor plumbing, electrical stuff around the house.

I had a metal stanley pack out before they were cool. Mine was even older than this one. The drawers didn't lock so if you bumped it, all your shit spilled everywhere.

Seems like Festool might have been a little bit further ahead. I remember the finish guys rolling in with their festool stuff before I saw the milwaukee guys do it.

I've noticed with carpenters they generally run Makita stuff, electricians and plumbers seems as those guys are milwaukee.

World's most expensive pack out lol.

I built my finish box with some old metal lab cabinets. I've since added hockey puck locks and bars for security

I think the preferred brand of tools has a lot more to do with which manufacturer makes more applicable specialty tools for the trades. Makita has relatively few specialty tools compared to Milwaukee and Dewalt. Also, Makita tends to run a tad pricier than the other options.

I still have 2 of those, but older. They seemed flimsy when I bought them ~20 years ago, but both are still in great shape and have been sent thru the ringer.

I had that one, but the middle section had 2 drawers
I have that one too...Ihave one of each. One with 2 drawers, one with one drawer being the little yellow drawers.

The one with 2 drawers also has a like "flip out" section in the bottom, so you dont have to lift the middle box off to get to the bottom box.

I bought the old man a Festool Domino and got a good look at these.

The festool seems a lot like the MakPac prior gen, pretty nice.

Prob is the same as with all the dolly type tool storage - (unless its a drawer) you cant open the stuff on the bottom without removing the stack, much less open from either side.

The new rolling front drawer milwuakee should be available at home depot now. No more unstacking to get someone out the bottom.

Klein has the same available at Lowes currently on sale. But damn there heavy empty. But top quality.

I have one of these as well. I also have a Scelzie packout powered by Ford. I like the Royal packout better, but I like the Ford power better.
The Royal quality is better or the layout?

I had Scelzi bed on my old Ford. Much better quality than my Harbor body. The Scelzi had a top shelf the others did not.

I feel the quality is equal between the two. The layout is the same on both trucks. The Royal has deeper bins then the Scelzie does. Also, the master lock system on Royal is better in my opinion. They both have the top flip up storage shelf, but the Scelzie just has adjustable dividers. The Royal has removable plastic bins that are adjustable as well. I like the removable bins for carrying all of your parts to your work zone.

Awesome.

These are bitchin no doubt, and if you are mounting this on your own truck there is no doubt youre in some trade.
Non trades but house/farm handy guys that do a lot of their own stuff dont typically commit at this level to their"do all" family truck.

Im curious though...?

Do you see this a replacement for rolling stool storage?

Dont you still have to get eth tools to the actual worksite and if you are parking outside these get ripped off all the time.

I know jack about these full bed replacement storage type deals - what am I looking at ?

Thanks.

You can find a nice used bed for 6k. There is a dealer a hour from me with every type you can imagine fully refurbished for 40-50% cost of new.

The few I have and prior ones came with the chassis complete. I was going to buy a bed and put on a cab chassis. But decided to have 1 custom built to my specs. 12' walk in with extra tall side boxes with a rack. Around 20k new for the body. The chassis 56k. 76k plus tax and license that's a 3500hd gas. Diesel 87k.

I bought the utility bed w/ truck.

it gives you so much more room to store and have on hand misc items - rather than just basic hand tools and a saw & cordless impact etc

My buddy w/ same set up, gotten broken into but they sell Heavy Duty lock sets that are harder to get into w/ out a key

I have stuffed so many years of crap inside mine… Could never replace it all !

Im a commercial general contractor and always have some funky stuff going on, Been working in the biotech world and I haul a rubber maid cart to move my stuff around.
