Pyramid lake every Wednesday for wake board Wednesday. Always Glass behind the island. Had a custom hat made Fuck the 405. Best to stay on the lake until they throw you off at close as traffic is not as bad going home. Leave at 9am as the morning rush dies. Now it's a lot worse than back then.

Yesterday left at 130pm and took a hour to go 16 miles on the 91. Hour and a half to go 32 miles total.

I think the mindset in general is that wakeboats are considered entry level boats with new to boating drivers who don’t know or understand boating etiquette. To some extent I believe that’s true. I don’t wake surf in the middle of the lake or in a busy area. It’s in a secluded spot so as not to be a menace to other boaters. I don’t go on the river in the middle doing 30 mph either. That’s like some dick going 55mph in the fast lane on the freeway. It’s just the way it is and some new boaters have no clue. It takes about 10 minutes to fill all the ballast tanks to wakesurf. So some people don’t want to completely empty them when they are done because it takes time to fill them again. Also the boat will ride better with some ballast. Wakeboard boats ride like shit they have one specific purpose and that is to displace water to make a big wake for wakeboarding/surfing or water skiing and that’s about it. The kids love it. I tolerate it

It’s the tube pullers that seem to annoy me the most when they zig zag, 180 and make S-turns on the river with no empathy for other boaters or concern for oncoming traffic.

This is done with all types of boats.

I’m working this week and was in north Hollywood took me 2.5 hrs to get to south oc left laurel canyon 101 at 11:30.

Was in your territory earlier this week Calle mayor in Torrance nice section for sure.

And, the wake from that boat wasn't anything bigger than other boats the same size. For example, no bigger than a Hallett 210/240 and much smaller from all the other big V bottom boats on the river. Yet people are convinced otherwise.. You'd have to be a complete knucklehead to cruise up and down the river with full ballast.

Obviously I understand that, I sit on the water almost daily all year long and I observe ALL boat wakes.
I'm talking about the low speed blowing with the boat intentionally set up to put out as big of a wake as possible.

My Mastercraft has the best ski wake of any boat I’ve skied behind, including my 18’ bahner or a Hallett 210. We are very serious about not taking on ballast on the river. The middle of mead is a different story.

The newer surf boats barely get on plane even without a wedge or ballast. They pretty much have a wakeboard wake at all times. It is what it is. The surf wake is massive though, sitting in the back of the boat you can’t see over the side because the wake is so big.

Pretty much the deal - my buddy Red Haired Jason has a loaded Centurion with lead and a million speakers. The wake is unruly. He moved to Havasu from Parker so you got that going for you. I seriously told him to keep the thing in the casino boat channel path. Hard to F up the water any worse.

I have a Mastercraft 22 and it is surf, wake, ski boat... It gets on plane easy, and produces a normal ski wake about 25 miles an hour... it can be adjusted to have a surf wake with tabs and ballast, and similar but different config for wakeboard wake.. I rarely tow with it but have always loved tow boats as they can fit a lot people, handle great and if we have folks that want ski or board...or even tube, its a great boat for it. Knowing the rep these boats have; I am very aware of my wake and don't run around off plane or loaded... but I do the same my other boats as well. Its just self awareness.

My neighbor had a couple 2/3 year old Malibu, really pretty boat with all the options. He was out and offered a ride, so off we go down by the reeds.

He asked if I would give him a ride, of course I was happy too. Usually he’s driving the kids and doesn’t have anyone to pull him. It’s idiot proof, you put the stick forward, the speed and all the ballast, wedge, gates etc, are already set. You pretty much can’t fuck it up.

Well I thought you couldn’t fuck it up. He surfs for a while, eventually gets tired and drops, I’m thinking like dropped a skier, I flip the boat around as fast as I can and head towards him. All of a sudden I realize I’ve just turned into the massive surf wake I was making. Over the front of the boat comes a massive wave. Suddenly we’re all standing in water. All I can say is that boat had really good bilge pumps.

Good learning lesson. Kinda like the first time you let off the throttle too hard in a v drive and it dives and scares the shit out of you.

That's the other thing I see all the time that makes so nervous for the downed surfer especially on a busy weekend. The surfer will fall and the boat eventually makes a super slow turn go get them while other boats are coming who cant necessarily see the person in the water.
As a life long waterskier it just goes against everything, we always make a quick turn and get back to the down skier as fast as possible.

I say this to myself all the time. With young kids they’re getting the itch for watersports. Debating on buying and older tige to keep in so cal for local lakes.

You won’t regret it. I’m always looking for a Nautique or Malibu. Looking for at least a 23’. Best times I’ve had on the water was in ours…

I’ve seen some at Parker younger kids driving come off plane and slow it down as they pass foxs them speed looking back to what their wake did to the parked boats happens often and these are the assholes who need to be hung but also give the rest the bad rep too.
