Not IE but pretty sure Inglewood transmission is still a go to. I know my boy Yup Boys motorsports rebuilds trans in the menifee area. But not sure if he over the phone quotes rebuilds. I know he wont be the cheapest haha

How does the fluid look? Have you looked at the filter?

I just want rebuild shift kit and billet converter. Missing those pre Covid prices right now 😅
Tell me about it...I sold off my last Dodge when it needed a new trans. It had 960k on it, so I figured I'd find another. Well, covid happened, and a shitbox '01 or '02 6spd 3500 is now some 20k F'n unicorn....
So I sit in yet another Prius 🖕

Well, if his works out...
I have confidence in him👍
Known the guy since we were both in the single digit age bracket.

As late teens I helped him pull the I6 out of his Nova (blown head gasket) and replace with another I6 with a 1/3 the mileage.
We pulled the old, and bolted in the new in a day. The next day buttoned up the odds and ends and he was on the road.

converter is 1200-1500.00 right off the top. The worst part of cummins swaps is the transmission. Depends on what you use it can cost double of the engine.

Power driven diesel builds a nice 47/48re transmission.

Probably one of the easiest transmissions to reman.

Power Driven Diesel can sell you everything you need and Todd used to dish out advice liberally. Very good people to deal with.

Another referral for Mike over at Inglewood Transmission.

Ive got some 2006 trans electrical problems we’ve never quite been able to solve for, but the guts of my 48re have been holding since Inglewood built it 15 years ago.

Not when ya have 3 kids and 2 jobs working 60+ hours a week with no garage currently but I like the pics and in theory could do it myself with proper time and location constraints.

Rip Mike! Mans a legend for sure, sad he passed a bit ago, but i know evan at limitless took over before he passed and still builds a killer transmission if needed

I hate hearing that stuff I just hope people around the shop listened to him and learned something. I grew up learning from old timers and their abuse lol but it’s made me the grumpy 41yr old I am today 🍻

My 05 has had a couple.
First gremlin was, believe it or not a bad battery cable, the ground. Replaced it and problem resolved.
Some years later
The wiring/plug for the speed sensor was the issue. Dodge dealership had it 2 weeks. (Had to rent a truck to go to Glamis that year) Fixed some recall issues unrelated then wanted to dig into the trans. I refused as the trans was under warranty from the shop that rebuilt it.
I point blank told the dealership to check the sensor plug, they insisted it was mechanical. The trans shop proved the dealership wrong.

X-2 about Mike(RIP). Evan did the full enchilada on our 05 48RE..wasnt cheap but feels like a whole new truck..tows way better and now have the comfort knowing I can install a compound kit on it and smoke the trans.

Inglewood Transmission is a well known Cummins expert. You should definitely give them a call.
