Hello all,

I recently commented on an existing Shore Hitch thread yesterday but I feel that I need to make this clear to everybody.

I had ordered a non engraved Shore Hitch nearly 2 months ago now. After waiting a month to nothing I messaged them on there website asking what the word is. They told me that it was being dropped off at ups the following day. Great. A couple more days go by and the tracking number said "label created but not yet in ups possession". I asked again and they kept saying check tonight it should update. It never did. That went on for another week.

Finally received the unit (was not home when it was delivered) and noticed the bottom of the box was blown out. Upon taking it out of the box (the unit was also barley wrapped and not secure in the box by any means) the bottom of the spike was dented in and the body of the unit also had a giant Knick in it. I emailed them back with pictures and told them I completely understand the bottom is going to be in the ground anyway but I still received a damaged unit that I paid a lot of money for. I was told to just grind the bottom of the hitch down myself. They then told me that the box that was delivered to my house is not the box they ship them in and that ups took it apart and put it in another box. Idk

Fernando did reach out personally to talk with me on the phone about the whole thing. We talked for a minute and he seemed like a cool dude and assured me it would get taken care of.

I was then told to start a claim with ups and once I did to send them all the claim info to which I would either be refunded or sent a new unit. Awesome. Did that the next day and sent them all the info along with me telling him that I never received the bag I ordered with the Shore Hitch.

Another week goes by and after speaking with ups on the phone they said I need to get in contact with the shipper because the settlement had been sent over to them. So I email them yet again saying what ups told me. Crickets until last Thursday when Fernando told me that he was still waiting on claim info even though a ups supervisor told me they had sent it all over almost 2 weeks ago now... you do the math

Unfortunately got scammed out of the bag which I still do not have and still stuck with a damaged unit and clearly ignored now for reasons which I do not know. Definitely sucks considering how much it was and how I had to pull teeth to get it. The very last thing I want to do is smash a small business but I have clearly been screwed over and scammed out of the other half of what I paid for and never got. Just felt the need to clear the air and hope that it doesn't happen to anybody else.

They are now also deleting comments I have left on social media of me calling them out. Shitty/ shady if you ask me. Anyway,

Cheers

Great! Don't tell my lady, she spent a fortune on this thing. Looks cool but a tad too big to hammer into the sand? Maybe thin it out with a die grinder?

So I guess no review video?

I haven’t had time.. and been sicker than shit since desert storm. My wife and daughter managed to give me and Peyton the plaque.. and it won’t go away.

That said there is a major design flaw with these things.. the action of the slide hammer has a shaft that goes up and down with the hammer.. when it’s in the down position the shaft is about six inches from the bottom of the spike itself..

Well that’s great and all but when you are hammering it into the dirt the shaft then hits the dirt and it won’t go any deeper than whatever that distance is..

Then they put the hole where you attach the rope way up high on the spike itself.. so even a small amount of force just pulls it out of the sand because of the leverage.

The original slide anchors the hammer portion rides up and down on a shaft on top of the anchor itself.. so you can hammer it into the ground as far as you want.. they put the rope attachment in the middle of the spike so when it’s in the ground the rope is down by the ground itself.. there’s no leverage to pull it over so they actually hold.

The shore hitch is a very shiny paper weight.. because it doesn’t work for shit in any kinda current.

I don’t even know where mine is right now, because I used it once and went back to my slide anchor..

It isn’t the shape.. it’s the design. They don’t work.

Perfect example of what I was saying above

See that shaft that’s by the sand?

How hard do you think you gotta pull before this thing just topples over..
I’ll give you a hint.. in sand not very hard.

If you watch any of the videos you see people whacking the shit out of them and they don’t go any further into the ground.. it’s because of that shaft.

Funny. Wife bought me one for my birthday, blinged out with the Hallett logo, blah, blah. Delivery situation sounds very familiar, took 3 months. But… while I wasn’t initially a big fan, I had to use it because it was a gift. For me, it is working out. I actually think the overall width, and the thinner walls make it less likely to lean towards the water over time. The storage bag (I got mine) is working out pretty well too.

Edit: the pointy thing that @RiverDave pointed out, I actually drive into the sand some and gets the main vein in deeper.

"Let’s be real. The anchoring market was a mess—clunky designs, rusted hunks of metal, and instructions so confusing they may as well have been written in hieroglyphics. We decided enough was enough."

I've never seen an anchor with instructions.

I’ve never used it but seeing that it’s aluminum it just doesn’t have mass to knock it down. Also with the spike being bigger it’s harder to dig.

Well, the leverage point is completely wrong. Also I'm seeing where its bending or at least appears to be. I just sniped the picture above are marked it up.

It isn’t bending that is just a shadow on the photo..

But yes the leverage point is the issue I mentioned earlier

Never looked at these until today. $280... holy shitballs. WTH... I'm good with my two slide anchor shore spikes. Thanks.
Yep for nearly the same price you can have TWO. I have never had a SA Shore Spike break either.

just an FYI, I have been seeing UPS site saying the label is creates and waiting for pick up quite a lot lately, then all of sudden the delivery shows up at my doorstep. UPS is fucked up, they are getting their ass handed to them by Amazon shipping and Fed Ex.

So Fernando is probably like f*** this guy and his bag he paid for.

Reality is it will be the most expensive bag he decided not to ship after this thread.

I don’t really know Fernando that well.. but there was people accusing him of stealing charity money on social media..

Then there is a guy who owns a job shop for manufacturing that claims he designed this thing for Fernando based on the production, and as soon as Fernando got the drawings he went somewhere cheaper for production so the first guy never got paid..

The whole thing is fucking crazy.

My main point of it on here, is the thing just doesn’t work.. lol.

This is because the vendor can create a shipping label on their end when the order is placed. UPS does not physically receive the item until the vendor boxes it and puts it in the pile for pick up. This is not an issue with UPS.

I must be in the minority on this one, I love mine. Yes, they are pricey, wife bought it for me last year for my birthday. I flipped it to her and told its something Id like to have but would probably never buy one because of the price, up to you if you wanna spend the money, hahaha. Down on the lower river its mostly all sand and it works great on a sand bar or 10ft off shore in the current holding my 22 Shockwave deck. I have even had 2 other boats tied up to mine in the current and it still held.... When she ordered it the bags weren't in yet, they mailed it to me a few weeks later.

Mine has worked perfectly for over 10 years. Great product and I have heard great support.
Which begs the questions...why would one ever need support for a piece of rod welded to a piece of angle with a piece of pipe over it?

When I saw those it reminded me of the dude with the blinged out dirt bike that can't ride for shit. Some items are just tools to get a job done, no bling needed and it apparently doesn't work as good as the Shore Spike we have all been using forever. We all get suckered when we see something shiny, LOL

@MikeRaffone did you post on social media before giving them a chance to resolve it?

Maybe that's why there not taking care of you.
I did not until yesterday and that's when they started to delete all the comments I left on their social media. I actually texted Fernando telling him the claim was submitted and told him I still did not have the bag on April 29th. He originally told me, after I had to hound him about the shore hitch from the first emails that I would receive the hitch first then the bag would follow in a separate shipment. He left me on read and I never got the bag that I paid for. Like I said the last thing I want to do is bash a small business but when you pay for something, they take your money, and then you just straight up don't get what you paid for I think most people would be pissed... He was/is clearly blowing me off even after I gave him every chance.

I got something similar to the shore spike from the buckskins store 18 years ago. All stainless, TIG welded and a bad ass SS milled hammer. I was drunk and this thing was pure fabrication beauty. I had to have it. $100 back then was a lot of $$$ for one of these. One of the best purchases I've made.

Customer Service can Make or Break a company !

Send the bag and swap it out…. Not very hard to do

Making the customer fix a problem, Certainly reassures confidence in a company

I’d probably just return it for a refund !
