It was the same on Wednesday around 10:30 am when I was driving West. About 20 minutes later I saw the largest motorcycle parade I've ever seen, mostly older Honda's (not choppers) heading East on the 40 towards Needles. I didn't notice a front escort, but they had commercial vehicles with signage trailing them.

We saw that yesterday on way home from Laughlin, at first thought they were CHP, but realized they were sheriffs, either had someone pulled over or were in center divider facing eastbound about 6 of them.

Big Drug bust!!

Between Ashfork and Seligman, out here on I40, If there's more than 1 unit, it wasn't for speeding. The DPS guys will light them up, but if it's something more, it's like a cartoon. The deputies appear out of the bushes it seems. Next thing you know, luggage, baby seats, seat cushions...laid out behind the car like a swap meet.

Hey @FlyByWire , was I40 hot for that stuff when you were on it, or is that more current? It seems like out by me, it's eastbound, so coming from Cali or Vegas I guess. Only been the past year I've frequented that stretch though.

As I'm turning left at Terrible's in Parker, some idiot in a clapped out Silverado decided he needed to stomp on the skinny pedal. He too made the left turn, sped past us, also driving like a complete ass. 10 seconds later, a clean white unmarked F150 slides up behind him and throws on the red and blue lights! Got 'em!!

I smiled as the cops pulled him over at the Running Man gas station. Sneaky!

With the old school radar, a detector was useless if done right. You were supposed to visually estimate the speed then point and activate the radar. As soon as it is activated, the detector would pick it up…..but too late. The lazy guys would just leave the radar activated all the time. That is when ur detector would help. Never worked with the LiDAR or laser technology so not sure if similar

Funny story. About 15 years ago just at sundown we were on our way to Mead/Boulder city. Just outside Barstow on the 15 there was a digital sign that said drug checkpoint 5 miles ahead and didn't think much of it. I had some stuff in the back of the truck that was blowing around so i got off at the exit just ahead to cinch it down.

As soon as I got to the top of the ramp and stopped there were probably 10 Sheriff cars at the top of the ramp just out of sight. 3 of them immediately pulled up one me. After a few questions they realized I was not transporting anything and just headed to the lake. The one deputy saw the Lavey sticker and was a fellow Lavey owner. We had a quick chat about boats an the lake and I was on my way.

Pretty clever idea as most idiots transporting drugs would panic and hit that exit right into the trap. There was no checkpoint ahead.

A few years back during a concert in Telluride they put up signs about a drug checkpoint. A sheriff deputy friend of mine said that just after the sign all kinds of “stuff” was flying out of car windows. They were sitting back in the brush out of sight but said they was enough”stuff” on the road or bar ditch to supply most of the pot heads, tweakers and the like in town.
