Hey Bones, any leads on a 78-87 El Camino that you know of?
Thanks
NSF
Been looking around for a beater for my youngest. Used to be cheap and everywhere in SoCal. No so much anymore, and not many around here :(

Or

And some other "done" ones.

The blue one is a pretty stout 505 big block. Roll on the throttle in third and it starts lighting the tires. The silver one is just a mild 396-402. Both are efi and manual trans. Silver has a 5- speed tremec and the other Is a m-22. It needs an overdrive though. The driving experience between the two is pretty night and day.

Big block 505 + M22 = Barely Controlled Mayhem

Hell yeah.

Nice work concealing the heater and A/C lines. The accessory drive casting is a cool piece.
Holley makes that. A nice piece that look’s factory instead of bling bling

FYI::: Really like to get one with a modern day LS drive train in it (at least an LS2) and has to have a/c and mated to a modern tranny also. Jsut missed one in Phoenix this week end, owner say it went for $30K at Mecum Auction but I couldnt make it down there :(

We did a frame off on a one owner Elcamimo. erod ls3, 4l60e, new 12 bolt Wilwoods. Came out super nice. And then he moved to Oregon so the erod was a waste.

I like it. I'm not a fan of a half dozen polished billet pulleys and idlers along with polished brackets on an engine, so this minimization by Holley is a well thought out alternative.

That piece, along with black braided coolant, accessory hoses, and fittings, can produce a measured look of power and competent design without the distraction of shiny bits everywhere that need constant attention to look decent.

Thats what the guy with blue chevelle plan was. He had the billet front drive on it, and didn't like it.

I’ll take the blue Chevelle all day especially if it’s a 138 car like the lower trim indicates.

Here’s one you won’t see every day. So this is one of my first customers when I started out. Yes it is a real Ferrari 330gt 2+2 coupe. He bought in the 70’s when it wasn’t worth shit with a blown up v12. Sold the v12 for more than he paid for the car. Put a big block in it and blew up the trans and rear diff. Sold those for more than he paid for it. So really a free Ferrari in car guy math. Sometime he took it to a body shop and told the guy he wanted to cut the roof off. The guy said are you nuts it’s a Ferrari. He said he didn’t care and wanted a roadster. Guy said nope. Well after my customer took a hammer to the roof the guy got the point and off came the roof. This thing has been a race car for some of its life. It went PSCa racing and went as fast as 8.60@175 mph with a 14/71 blown alcohol bbc in it. He has since mellowed it out and gave it to his son who is trying to make it back to Ferrari status as best he can.

Looks like there is quite a bit of room in that engine bay. A Coyote would probably fit nicely and look a little more exotic that a SBC.

Was thinking the same thing. That is a lot of room for a car that does not look that large. But then again you did say that it had a V-12 at one point.

So after a little horse trading this came into my life today. 1937 Chevy pickup. But wait there’s more. The thing is on a Roadster shop chassis with their irs set up. Brembo brakes. Penske Double adjustable coilovers. The part that really sold me on it was the Albins sequential 6-speed. 420ci old school small block that made 630 hp on the dyno. Holley efi on it. 285’s on the front and 325’s on the rear.

Nice. Did they intentionally let everything underneath it rust over, or was it more like a build, then never blown apart for paint again?

As far as I know it was never 100% finished. Another old guy that passed away and never finished his dream. The odometer shows 38 miles on it. I am going to have some fun with it and if it stays around long enough, I will blow it apart and powder coat and finish it nicer.

"Finished" enough...put it on a trailer behind Chester, and go to a track day! Heads will explode 🤣

I may have worked on that many years ago at Fennell’s. Can’t be a lot of small block 330s around.

A Tahoe we are doing for a customer. We did all the Ridetech coilovers and big Wilwoods and ordered some Budniks for it. Then he finds an engine and says might as well. So now it has a 525hp ls3 and a 4l80e to go with the new suspension and brakes. Should be entertaining especially at stop lights.

Haven't seen anything lately on "Shop Girl."... she still helping out? Did she get any projects on side going on? I'm on a 460 Ford forum and see where there are lots of younger gals diving into the OBS fun doing all kinds of restorations and mods.... some have amazing knowledge I guess from trade schools or maybe just being mentored in good shops for a while through guys like yourself.
