It’s amazing people will spend $500,000 on a boat that can’t turn. 🤷‍♂️😁

Anyone want to discuss the boat in question? It’s either the driver experience is lacking, or the boat an is unsafe design? 🤷‍♂️😉

What's funny, I've spent most of my water time on SeaDoos. I've tried to teach my kids there is the equivalent of the "lugnut rule". Just like being on the streets, bigger vehicle has right of way. They may not see you, so you best make sure to see and respect them. Neither has brakes.
My boats have always been slower, and smaller, so I just try to stay out of the faster lines. There are a couple places north of Moabi that there is really only one line to follow...I've always tried to look ahead and behind, and throttle adjust so I don't enter at the same time.

There's enough water, and I'm in no rush.

Yeah, like
I said, nothing personal to seadoo runners. About two years ago I was riding one from
Bullhead to needles and realized they ain’t made to really look behind you, you
Have to take a hand off like a M/C to really turn and look Behind you (especially with a big ol Life jacket on). And if you just do the Quick Look over your shoulder you tend to yank the ski in that direction just by mechanics.

I don’t give a shit how awesome you are or what boat you run…shit happens. And bad shit happens fast. I’ve known of a lot a lot a lot of people that have decades of experience (even racers) that have been seriously hurt or killed in freak accidents in virtually every boat made.

The hull in question has won multiple championships.

Sponsons will catch a wave/trough and hook, it’s not hull specific but it is type of hull specific. If you’ve ever driven a cat in rough water, especially the river that has lots of parallel waves you will feel the boat wanting to stay in the trough.

That seems like a very dangerous design, for a family boat. Low speed handling appears to suck?

Ehh. I think I compare everything to cars.. what I consider to be high performance would be the boats that pack a lot of air or run pretty fast (a corvette or Ferrari etc). Id compare what I have to a Buick station wagon with a big motor or something. Sure it’ll bite you if you drive it off the road or into a tree..but it’s not going to blow over and you’d probably have to fuck up big time to get it to roll.
No, but It could snap in half like that one in Parker a few years ago

There was an orange skater that was in a near miss at the entrance to the river getting yelled at on fb.. how true it is I dunno.
Well its probably the same guy that hosed us down. Boats were probably 4 wide and he picked a line, got his rooster tail wound up and crossed diagonal between boats ending in front of us throwing a few 100 gallons of water on us. Kids loved it, Driver was pissed, I thought he could have made the move with out the rooster tail. That kind of traffic I am used too from Parker

I have been water drenched twice by the big cats flying by me going up river. Those drivers get zero respect from me, not all boaters are courteous.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of some idiot with more money than brains passing me at 100+ mph less than 10-20’ feet away from my boat traveling at 45-50 mph. I’m not saying to have a speed limit on the river, but have some fucking common sense and courtesy. I’ve had my share of big cats pass in an unsafe situation just because they can doesn’t mean that they should.

Not defending but going up river there isn’t room at times to give 20 feet. When you have 2 boats going up and 2 coming down sometimes it gets tight. Not that that is a safe time to pass obviously but I’ve been 4 wide before and it is tight.

Passing close is fine with me, but at least the operators can slow to a decent freeway speed and not throw a roost drenching the other boat. Just a courtesy in my opinion.

FYI, these cats with outboards don’t throw much or a roost at all. Totally different animal than a surface drive.

I mean, you’d have to be straight cut off to get sprayed by one of these new outboard cats (DW, MTI, DCB, etc). They don’t throw the 30’ high 100’ long roosters that spray water all Over the place. Like this 😂😂 (yes, they’re laughing)

Neutral trim in my boat no roost at all even if I trim it up to 25 or say 30% it’s maybe 3 ft tall lol

I hate having Other boats around me on the river no matter what. Ok if they’re behind me but I don’t really like
Anyone directly in front of me, I don’t really like passing (but I do it to get away) and I really don’t like running side by side. It’s just to narrow for my liking and not enough room to get away if something bad happens quick. I keep my head on a swivel, looking back regularly. If someone is coming up on me fast, I get out of their way because I like it when people grant me the same courtesy. And I absolutely DETEST being around seadoos. Nothing personal they just don’t look. Passing them gives me the Willy’s every time. Give them a wide fuckin birth.
… Part of the beauty of my 21 years above Lake Oroville was… During the week I never ever had a boat even close to me… just the wide open lake and various secret coves…All to myself👍

Yep. You want to find a quiet area, go to the south end of the lake. You really want to be alone, go to Mojave. But let’s be honest, people don’t go to havasu to be alone.

The spot on Parker that seems to get me is right off of Fox's, across from the sand bar, seadoo's swirling around, Pontoon plodding along, usually a couple boats coming down river, throw in a guy in a big twin hustling through, and your making the bend right there, It's not like farther up at river island where it's pretty much one lane through the rocks.

More than once I've chopped the throttle rather than blasting through on a suspect line. On the weekends that seems to be a multilane section.

Yeah....maybe early in the morning if it is empty... but I rarely do hot laps past Fox's mid day.... too much going on going south or north around that curve...

There’s no rules in Parker. Why I only go on Friday and never the weekend.

But they need to slow down and pass at a safer speed. I have a my head on a swivel and I’m always courteous to faster traffic, but not to the extent of damaging my prop shaft or rudder on a sand or rock bar.

It’s like passing on Rice Road, there are safe spots and dangerous areas, sometimes you just need to hold back and pass when it’s safe.

Then you slow the fuck down. There is zero excuse outside of a circle race to be within 20ft of another boat while underway.

Takes speed to roll a boat over. I know some say you can flip a cat tunnel at 40mph but really what are the odds of doing so?

My boat is only a 207 and max I’ve gone through that turn is 50 and didn’t feel any different. A lot of stuff happens at speed by many won’t admit to the speed that they were doing when things went wrong.

I was thinking about this...you got T-rex arms or something? 🤣
Maybe from doing stupid stuff on 2 wheels, like riding bikes that had no mirrors, or mirrors that vibrated too much to be useful. I can still keep both hands on the grips and stay straight...looking over left shoulder. (Bikes or SeaDoos) Not the right anymore...neck no longer has range.

It's like anything else, you need to be mindful of your position, as well as others. Two or four wheels on a SoCal freeway scares me more than the river:oops:

Some of y’all actually complain if one of these boats hauls ass past you and gets you a little wet? It’s the river, your boat is supposed to get wet. I’m all for it and some of my fondest memories of the river/havasu are big cats ripping past me.

I’ve passed and been passed by plenty of boats at 20-50’ while doing 40-70mph(pretty much mandatory on parker). Never had an issue and rarely thought the other guy was being a dick either. Stay in the channel if you’re worried about the big scary boats 🙄

Berth😉
And yes, I give as much as possible too. Even if they're coming right toward you...too me it's like tunnel vision, only looking 10-20 feet ahead.
In car terms, they're barely looking past the hood.

I too love that shit!! Can’t get enough. Huge cat passing us at 140-150. FUCK YEAH! And everyone riding with me is like FUCK YEAH!! get a little mist from a rooster? The smell of race gas as someone blasts past? FUCK YEAH! I love that shit.

I do try to be as mindful as possible but also, I always just assume everyone loves loud fast HP on the river when I go blasting by. 😂😂 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

That takes someone willing to pull the sticks(aka ego) back and wait until it is safer.

Exactly! Thats what the whole lifestyle is about! If we all end up being a bunch of Kens complaining about boats that are faster than ours, we might as well all get surf boats and see who can make the biggest waves..

Some of y’all have gone a little soft…

If I still went on the weekends and a big scary boat soaked me and my girls down, we have a HUGE fucking problem. My current boat does 55mph

I stay out of the lanes, and head on a swivel.

My last boat did 125+. At no time did I ever do that speed with traffic around me. Its fucking dumb and showing off. Bottom line.

Signed - I guess im a Ken.
