It actually is, but fun and exciting experiences are a very close second.

We drive cars at 80mph on the freeway all day long passing thousands of others, 3’ away. A boat or two passing you at 80-100mph, 20+ feet away actually sounds quite safe to me…
Ya but on the highway you have that yellow line separating you. 🤷‍♂️

Some of y’all actually complain if one of these boats hauls ass past you and gets you a little wet? It’s the river, your boat is supposed to get wet. I’m all for it and some of my fondest memories of the river/havasu are big cats ripping past me.

I’ve passed and been passed by plenty of boats at 20-50’ while doing 40-70mph(pretty much mandatory on parker). Never had an issue and rarely thought the other guy was being a dick either. Stay in the channel if you’re worried about the big scary boats 🙄
Im going to assume you would tow your boat with a truck like this:

I heard that the girl had a cheap floating fany pack she was wearing. It brought her to the surface and saved her. My son has been using our 22 Stoker and probably has more hours on it then me in the last 10 years. Shit happens real quick on the water so I just bought him jackets similar to this one

Great post!

We have lineline jackets on the boat. But frankly, they're a bit much to be wearing for run to Pirates and really don't wear jackets unless we're running hard in the ocean. I've been looking at picking up like 6 auto inflate streamline jackets for everyone on the boat but there's so many different brands and price points. I love the streamlineness of them and the ease of wear. I think I personally and everyone else would wear them more often if I had some of these.

Fast&Loud Photography posted a video of us from the helicopter running during Supercat on one of the social media platforms (can't remember which) 150 or something comments and a LARGE majority of them was people talking shit because we had no jackets on. 🙄 Of course also fat bald guy driver, small dick complex, boats are stupid, my fishing boat is faster, buy a cat, that things slow, helicopters are stupid, that's dangerous, someone is going to die, it's too loud, blah blah blah. I swear social media is just full of fucking IDIOTS. 😂😂 People obviously weren't hugged enough as children. Or maybe hugged too much? I don't know, anyway, I digress. LOL

So, which one of the auto inflate vests are the best and why?

Funny you mention big scary boats, once many years ago a 21' day cruiser on the strip was huge, evolution I guess that we are up to 36' cats with 1000 hp hanging off the back.

The difference from the river and the freeway, is on the freeway my wife and kids are not dunking in the water to cool off or have fallen while skiing. And my BS boaters card never mentioned special hrs for skiing and hot lapping, So we all get to use a little common sense and courtesy to share the same space.

These are cool. Do they self inflate when submerged?

I use the same ones when I’m on the ocean boat. Shit gets real when it’s a small craft advisory going through the Channel Islands on a 25’ Parker Boat.

Good post! Also, air bags, seat belts, engineered car bodies with crumple zones….. the list goes on with the difference of boats and cars. You can’t compare the two. Some of my boats have been in the 100+ mph zone and I still wouldn’t blow past someone 10’ away. The water is unpredictable just like flying an aircraft.

I’m not trying to be a Ken, or an old blue hair that just complains. But I’ve lived this long not being in a boat accident and I’ve been going to the river since I was 5.

I think this in one of those deals that something is better than nothing!? I have similar as posted, but are West Marine brand and who knows if they are better or worse than any of the others. I do know one got dropped overboard, and it blew up way faster than I expected it to! I am not sure how good they would be in a big speed crash, but like you, if I/we are running hard we put Lifelines on.

We wore these on a friends 32 Cat and they were not that bad. Made me feel much better going over 100MPH. These are USCG Type 2 auto inflate life jacket. Type 2 jackets will rotate an uncontious person face up

And typically no currents or changing water conditions....

And...brakes? Never saw a boat with them.

"It's the same as driving on a highway." What a completely lame comparison.

I have a boat that will do well over 100 and I would never pass people so close, nor would I be doing even close to 100 around a turn as witnesses seem to indicate this guy was in this incident. If that's true, there is zero excuse for that.

People who do that kind of stuff are either too dumb to know the risk they are putting themselves and everybody else in or just have egos that won't allow them to back off and stop trying to be a cool guy for just a while. Either way, it's not good. Havasu just seems to have become an ego proving ground for too many people.

I would say if these idiots want to go kill themselves, that's fine, but the problem is that if it happens too often, everybody can look forward to more regulations and rules (no wake zones, etc). Keep it up, morons.

A fun day in the water can turn to shit in an instant. Is proving you're a cool guy worth it?

70 is ridiculous on the strip? Then why the fuck are there so many 100mph+ boats on the strip? 🤣

To some of us, 70mph isn’t “hauling ass” or “impressive” at all. Not trying to impress anyone here. If my boat does 65-70 I sure would like to stretch its legs from time to time. Thats like buying a supercar, taking it to a track but never going above freeway speeds…

For the record, I never said “its the same as driving on a highway” but I did compare the two and provide facts that almost all of us drive our cars faster, closer, and in about 100x the amount of traffic every day.

I’m aware boats don’t have brakes(no shit), but cars also don’t stop on a dime either.

I’d also like to add, as with both cars and boats, driving near someone(in-front, behind, to either side) is when your most likely to get into an accident with another vehicle. Following behind someone the whole way up the river could be more dangerous than just passing them and running your own speed by yourself.

I would not do 100 around that turn on a busy weekend either, but a weekday/off weekend/early morning… I would do it every single time if it felt safe.

So normally it’s a big butthole?🤣
You haven't heard the joke?

"
when @Bpracing1127 comes roaring past doing twenty miles over the limit passing 50 cars at a time. The cop lights him up and pulls him over. After retrieving the driver's license and registration, he's filling out the ticket and he asks the driver, "So, what do you do for a living sir?"
BP replies, "Oh, I'm an asshole stretcher."
The cop pauses in his writing for a sec, dumbfounded. Then asks, "What exactly does that involve?"
"Oh, it's simple," BP replies, "First you insert a finger, eventually you can get two fingers in, then a fist. After that you can work both hands in and really start stretching it out. After it gets big enough, you can work you feet in there and keep stretching until it's about six feet."
"Six feet?" The cop asks, "What do you do with a six foot asshole?"
"Usually," BP says, "you give him a radar gun and stick him on Rice Road."

Edit: Edited to make it better lol

Happened me once (more than once, but it didn't end this badly the other times lol)..

Dam! It’s happened to me more times than I can count as well, but on a dirtbike. Broken back, ribs, shoulders, wrists, ankles, more concussions than I will ever admit… if you’re going to be dumb, you gotta be tough is what my dad always told me. lol

Parker is small and a lot of people who have places there know each other. And a lot of them have fast boats or know people with fast boats. So if someone is doing a hot lap going by road runner or foxes it’s because more than likely someone they know is at that bar and they are just having fun. Why do guys go flying down the drags at Glamis? Because it’s fun showing your shit every now and then and getting some thrill in. As long as they aren’t being an asshole about it what does it matter. What’s not fun about doing a couple hot laps and then going back to the bar and talking to your buddies about it and watching the videos they took of you

I prefer my LifeLine over any auto inflatable. If I go flying out of my boat, I will have some cushion protecting my torso and some support behind my neck when I hit my windshield, fiberglass etc.

The drag boat guys don’t wear inflatables and they go flying out above 100mph all the time.

I know it’s work to put them on but they could save your life.

I jest.😉😊

Parker is a different animal for sure. I totally get the adrenaline rush I just tend to do it away from crowds or traffic.

So we don’t like wake boats, fast boats, desert storm speed runs, new country music, crowds, popcorn prices, and did I mention crowds?

Only thread that everyone agrees with is the FukstickRick. 🤣

You forgot about the Speed thread…….

I have a self inflating one that I wear, but the boat only goes 60. If I had any sort of drag boat, I’d definitely have a lifeline

The day I don't want to do a hot lap, put a bullet in me as I'm already dead inside. I like to watch them too, that's why we have fast boats.
