Hey Guys,

Here is a little project I've been working on for a while and it's finally ready. This is a 1/5 scale GN boat that is 48" long with wood deck graphics. These boats are all hand layed fiberglass and capped in white gel coat. The wood deck boat shown here was built for Ben Marrone the owner of GN 305. We are also building two more for Skip Tuttle the owner of GN 711, his will have custom paint instead of wood to match his color scheme. We are currently about 70% done with the tooling on the Schiada RC, we should have a boat in 4-6 weeks. It will also be 48" long. All boats come stock in white gel coat, other colors, custom graphics and custom paint are available on a per bid basis depending upon what you want. An all white GN boat sells for $650 + freight. The Schiada may be a little more, we'll know more after we have the first one built. It takes about 2-4 weeks from order to delivery.

For now we are just selling the hulls. Later on we will develop a ready to run boat that we will sell as a package. There are 1/5 scale V-Drives available if you want to rig them like a real V-Drive. Or you can run a surface drive system out the transom like most RC boats are now. You can also go electric. I have the information on the V-Drives if interested. Let me know what you guys think of these boats if we get enough interest later on we will build a flat bottom Sanger bubble deck, Biesmeyer, Hondo/Cole etc, etc. If you guys are interested in ordering one or have any questions call me at (415)798-0551 I am in Napa, CA.

That looks killer. Will the Schiada be to scale as well? The version from DPI is far from it. I can't wait to see the RC when it's done. I think electric is the way to go if you want to do a scale setup.

Great work.

hey spectra brent, I can do a spectra but not just 1 there is way to much time and money making the plugs with all the cad and cnc work. i would need to know I could sell 20 boats to recover the cost. Do you have that many buddies with Spectra's? The next one we build will probably be a flat that has had the most request. call me if you have any questions ?

Thank you
Dave

Roger, there are already a ton of companies making large scale offshore deep v's and cats that is why i did these boats there are no GN and day cruiser hulls out there. If you want those off shore boats just go on line to any rc boat site and you can find a lot them.

How much would each boat cost?
Maybe other Spectra guys would want to step up and buy one.

Great Work!

You couldn't do anything "simply"... :blah: You must have been drunk on that last post... Reminds me of some other tool that used to post like that.

Dave Andy used to ride the short bus to school. Just put him on your ignore list. He is just jealous his beater schiada didn't get used as the poster boat...:D

Wait till you see the mini Wiskers Dave is making just for me!

Can't wait to see the Schiada. I would never want to run one of these things though, they are too nice. It would look bitchin to have a matching one to my Dad's 21'er hanging in the house somewhere though. Look forward to the pics. Great work.

just a thought, if you wanted to simulate the non skid on the deck you could use skateboard non skid during the lay to get the bumps ??

Good idea...
but I think it would be too fine at 1/5 scale. What about 3M tread, for stair edges? It would be a similar grain/design and scale. Just an idea. My personal opinion is that if i had the money, I would buy one of your scale Schiada's in a minute. But, I would only buy it if it was true to design, with tread deck. Otherwise, it's a boat model.
And, easy for you to build a Spectra mold, and block it to build the Schiada mold with a different gunnel, and you could incorporate the outside only tread deck of the spectra/howard.
Just ideas from someone with limited (ed. none) experience with tooling a boat.
And, with that note, when you build a Schiada with tread deck, I will find the money to build the boat i would love to have. At least 20% of it.

Dave,

Great talking to you today on the phone. I think you had me when you mentioned that you're laying wood floors into these things. Can't wait to see how they look.

@Skifaster: I think a 1/5th version of Tachycardia would be sweet. I saw on the web that one of those scale V8 Motor guys is trying to build a twin turbo version :)

Ya, I'd love to redo my 10'er to match my Dad's 21, then get one of these deals to have a 4'er to match.

Once we have finished the moulds and have some boats built we will see about making a second deck mould with the non skid in it.

Thanks for the input

we have one out and we are working it up now and we are going to paint it to look like my budy kevins 24 all white with a deep orange and blue around the cap then we can get some pics and a web site up with the schiada and the g n hull. We are in the process of rigging a gn and it is going to go out on the NAMBA r c boat circut and race it and see how it does. Also building a high end static model of our freinds old wood deck G.N. with a covered engine hatch full interior with 2 bench seats wrap around with mini tuck and roll all black hull with black interior and it will sit on a scale trailer to match the boat with mini chrome fenders. We have been really busy doing all this between our real jobs. There will be no pics untill the schiada and black g n boat are done probably afew weeks out but some really cool stuff coming. Well post up as soon as this stuff is done, dave
