68 rfe trans in the the ram 2500's are a week trans.. Its some what common that they go out..

The second post in that link about covers it. I believe Sonax carries a correction kit for it. That, and a rebuild and you're pretty set on a stock truck. If it's turned up a bit, or a hauler, look into a billet converter too. If it's turned up a lot...your friend will be reaching deep in his wallet

Truck is in Santa Clarita

Another friend has a Trans shop in Harbor City
They replaced solenoid, inspected every everything short of pulling trans
So far , So good, no code thrown, passed smog
