Hey GoPro users, I have been thinking about buying one of their cameras, and tinkering around with filming some of my kids bmx and mx stuff, but I have always used a conventional camcorder.

I know that there are a number of you are avid users of the product, so which one of the cameras, and which of the accessories are a must have to get started. I am interested in the GoPro platform because it can be expanded upon and is very versatile. Any help is appreciated!

I have the 960 GoProLove it great pics and video, wish I could show you a sample of it's ability, but I have been trying to get the footage downloaded to a site for over a week, tried Vimeo w/ the desktop loader, it finally loaded to their site, when I tried to view, it had massive skips and pretty much failed. Tried Youtube, it goes for a while and seems to fail right at 43% uploaded. I am using the Windows Live Movie Maker to section all the clips together. The vid having trouble is only 436 MB and 4 minutes w/ added music.Sorry to jack the thread, but apparently I'm looking for insight from the Pro's-pun intended:D for a suitable hosting site to share vids and editing tools to piece together clips?.:thumbsup

I have the 1080 Go Pro but I film in the 720 format. Less of a resource hog and seems to edit easier and upload to youtube easier. I have been using windows movie maker also but I have the Sony Vegas software that I have yet to try.

I have the 1080 hero and can tell you it's worth every penny. You will need a computer capable of handling large files and some editing skill won't hurt either.

I mount the camera on the chin guard.

I'm getting a 960 today. I want to take it to Big Bear this weekend so my son can use it snowboarding. Where do you get all the good mounts? I'd like to use it on the boat & rhino also.

yeah, I don't get it, my file right now is only 436 MB w/ music and youtube just stops at 43%. I have one file that made it to youtube, 212 MB used the movie maker and music.....

The problem is don't use windows live movie maker to trim the clips, it reduces the quality, and letterboxes the footage usually. There are better alternatives, i use MP4Cam2Avi (it does a quick reprocess of the audio and video) then cut the clips up in a program called VirtualDub.

Also like someone said about the 960 camera is the way to go :thumbsup

My 960 came w/ moto 3m Sticky helmet mounts and a strap for a Mountain helmet and an assortment of accessories, you need to get the bar mount seperately, got mine at Sport Chalet 20 bux.

Does the go pro have a plug for a remote wired mic? I want to be able to mount the camera up in the wind but run a mic down behind the canopies so you can hear the motors instead of wind noise.

Just don't get too loud on the river in Parker, you don't want to get a ticket.
