I'll be there. Running leg 19. Trying to get an earlier leg to get the party started earlier!

I've run 15, 19 and 20 (different years of course in the early 90s). The only problem with the earlier legs back then was most of them were either hilly or up hill

Even though they were late night or very early morning 19 and 20 were definitely my favs.... A lot of down hill or flat and leg 20 was special bringing it home!

Have fun and be safe!

No doubt... I've ran 6 before and that damn near killed me (hot year).

Good info about 19 and 20. Much appreciated... take care and be safe!

We will be out there, the husband is starting the race with Leg 1 this year. The team took pity on the oldster and gave him one of the easier legs, because even though it is a little longer distance the elevation gain is minimal. I will be out on course for volunteer support, catcher/shuttle. The last couple of years we have said that this will be our last year participating, but it always comes down to the youngsters getting injured just before the race and in desperation they ask the hubbie to fill in. He can't say no, even though he should and luckily he does keep in shape so he can go that distance.

I wish everyone good luck, have fun and be safe.

I’m usually leg 17, but this year I’m starting the team off (leg 1). First B2V in couple years since I had knee surgery last February.

Good luck to all participants and thank you to all the volunteers and support staff that make this event possible.

Anyone heading to Dumont, slow down through Baker, we are sitting at the high school watching the Sheriff pull over one after another, non stop. Anf good luck to all the runners!
Thanks for the heads up. We are ready to leave Riverside. My partner is dragging his ass.... I don't think he understands the level of traffic we are about to encounter.

Uggghhh.... I'm dreading it. We leave in a half hour but I'm worried that's still too late. Should've been smart and left last night.

Good luck to all runners. Hopefully you have an injury free, fast run (but not faster than team 88! [emoji16]).

Retired now, but when I was younger, I didn't have the long distance body, so I worked the extra shifts and doubles to cover those who participated.

Did it for 25+ years in one form or another. Hard to explain it to people until you go out and see it in person!!! You either hate it or love it!!! no in between. We skipped this year for lots of reasons but might be back in next year??? The wife was having B2V withdrawals!!! lol...
VCDSA gives a trophy to the fastest team in Ventura County. OPD and Ventura SO have always had a friendly rivalry for the braggin rights and the trophy. The SO has owned it for the last few years!!!!

You either know, or you don't. Teams from all over the country compete, as well out out of country teams. Huge event within the Cop world for reasons far beyond the running... hahaha

What are the reasons beyond running? Competition between the cops or something?

This was only one of many stories/adventures out on the course, the runner from the Orange County crime lab was in serious trouble and we had to force him into the van. He ended up taking 5 liters of saline at the check point and I think they air lifted him out to Vegas!!!

Holy shit, what leg was that? It was the best year for many in regards to weather. Scarry un prepaired for sure. That race is no joke regardless of how fast you are.

Lol on edit.. 2010. Yeah I can see that.

I think one guy had a Heart Attack this year. He made it luckily.

Baker is one big school slow down zone. Stretches a good portion of Kelbaker rd through "Town."

No secrets, just a fun weekend. Ive done it 15 times in my 28 years, there is something really cool about the event (running in the middle of no where in the middle of the night) and everyone cheering everyone on. Huge party on Sunday, just a fun weekend when cops just get to be cops and not worry about who knows what they do because everyone around you does the same thing. I guess its kinda hard to explain.

I'm walking through the Flamingo pool area

Somebody requests a page over the PA system for a guest......

"Paging Mr Rodney King, Mr Rodney King"

Gotta love cop humor

Yeah, this guy was on my team, happened at the end of Leg 5. He did make it, had some surgery and is coming home today. They had to shock him twice, once on the course with the AED then again in the ambulance then he got airlifted. About 45 seconds before he went down, he took water and spoke to his wife who handed it to him from the follow vehicle and he seemed fine. He had no idea that he had severe blockages in his arteries, this guy ran over 5 miles on the reg and never had a problem.

The AED we had in our follow vehicle saved his life. Every team should carry an AED in their car and someone that knows how to use it. Scary scenario, but quick actions and where it happened (close to the chute where the baton is exchanged) were key to his survival. It is nice having an ambulance at every stage as well, in years past that wasn't the case they just had a couple roaming the course.

And yes we did finish the race, but it was nothing to the joy and relief we all felt when we heard he was going to be OK.

Hope everyone else had a great time out there and came home safe. Vegas was a shit show for St Paddys day, and the basketball that seemed to be on every TV only added to that madness.

Holy shit... small world. Glad to hear he is good. They spoke about him at the closing ceremony, but we didn't know what team he was with.

I finished leg 4 close to sunset, and went to the end of 6. On the way back over IBEX we saw the bird coming in but didn't know if it was just staging or actually enrt to pick someone up.

Those AEDs are literal life savors. Glad he was with the right people.

Whoa... pretty scary stuff. Glad everything turned out good. Praying for his speedy recovery.

Their in the beginning, Death Valley Relay Race, mainly LAPD VS. LASD. Great times. Always Darryl Gates on one leg.
