They are doing a tour of the US this year, calling it the "Over and Out Tour"
Jeff Lynne is a musical genius in my opinion, one the greats of our time, and he is 76 years old.
It seems to me that this might be one you want to make. Yes, he has lost a step, but he puts together a band and backup help that makes you hear ELO when they play.
He will be in Sacramento in late October. My B-day is in October.
We are going. I will break a personal rule about paying (ticketmaster extortion )the price for live shows these days, but I will bite the bullet on this one.
Because Electric Light Orchestra.
We are going.

Make a great point and there is super band the cool place to go to would be his concert in Palm Springs. Too bad he’s not doing Las Vegas. Yet.

would love to do Palm Springs, the timing doesn't work for us or we would.
I have said, "next time" on too many artists I like only to find, for whatever reason, death, break up, what ever...there is no "next time".
Ain't gonna make that mistake with this band.
I saw a you tube vid of a show they did last fall for Vets in Sand Diego during a multi-band deal, and decided we needed to see them again, one more time. Last time was 1978 (?) with the spaceship effect...it was one for the books.
I told a friend on the phone last night who had seen it that having the dedication to step up and do it at 76 tells me he just loves to make music. He sure as heck isn't hurting for the $.

I haven’t seen ELO, but the best concert I’ve seen in the last 20 years is Styx, just insane. We were at the theater in Anaheim and the entire theater was standing up for Mr. Roboto.!!!!

The back in Anaheim on June 28 anybody reading this buy tickets it’s a fabulous show

Palm Desert August 24, I won't miss it!

Years ago I dressed like Jeff Lynne for a Halloween Party, just as he was on the "On The Third Day" album. I was surprised that 2 people knew who I was trying to be. Everyone else pegged me as "creepy 70's guy!" They weren't wrong!

ELO was around the same time I discovered Boston. Late 70’s.
I haven’t seen either one. Would love to see Boston live. I have though seen Jeff Lynne’s ELO advertised on FB lately.

In the 90s I didn’t even know who Styx was being a metal head/punk fan.

Anyways my friend calls me up on a Saturday afternoon and says he got free tickets to Styx and Kansas at what was then Blockbuster arena in San Bernardino. I say “who” his answer was “come sail away!” Still no clue I say sure and we pack a bunch of people in my single cab Nissan hard body yes even the bed of the truck and head down to blockbuster from Yucaipa. Long story short it was and is still top 5 concerts I’ve been to! Styx was awesome but honestly I don’t ever listen to them to this day but I’d go see them in concert again.

Looks like tix for ELO are still available in Palm Desert, and if you're in Coachella Valley, then you can avoid all the BS fees and purchase directly at the box office at Acrisure Arena. The box office is open on days when there's an event at night, and we're in hockey season now (go CV Firebirds!!!), so the box office is open a lot this time of year.

Speaking of Acrisure & hockey (sorry for threadjack, Fly...!), the Firebirds have already secured a spot in the Calder Cup finals (AHL version of Stanley Cup), and last year in their very 1st season they took the Calder Cup finals to 7 games and lost in OT, pretty f'in exciting if you're into hockey...! Tix are cheap and Tue/Wed are $5 beer nights!!!

Boat Pi Styx is one band I regret passing on when young. When the Grand Illusion Tour was going I had an in for tickets and something was up and I passed.
I can't remember what that "something" was, neither can the wife...but she remembers me passing...so that tells ya right there I screwed that decision up. Saw Boston several times, and many others at "Day on the Green" shows in the bay area during college days, but never saw Styx.
I can't stand what has happened to ticket pricing, but ...well, we are in for October in Sac. Hopefully we will be driving down from over the hill for it.

Parking at most venues is more than I Ever paid for concert tickets as a kid.

Old Dominion set me back almost 1k.

Totally worth it though. Have fun Jeff!

I don't understand the pricing on that place. No offense to desert peeps...but it's the desert. I saw Kiss on their last tour and it was such a good show I thought...okay, maybe "one last time" at Acrisure. Then I saw the prices.

F* that place.

I'll stick with Agua Caliente.

I agree Jeff Lynne is a super talented musician, have fun guys :)

For the record, I missed Styx's Paradise Theater tour by a year or two (too young), but I saw them on the Kilroy Was Here tour, and when they reunited in 96, and one other time after that.

Agree, always got my money's worth at Agua Caliente, great venue...first time going to Acrisure and first time seeing ELO, guess we're going to splurge and blow our SSC check. :)

Brit Floyd will be there in June. Any seat is a good seat because of the insane light show. https://aguacalientecasinos.com/agua-event/brit-floyd/

We have seen them 4 times thus far. I've seen a lot of shows over the past 50-years...and they are among my favorites.

@Flyinbowtie, you'll enjoy this great performance by Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Dani Harrison, and dazzling guitar work by Prince. It's a tribute to George Harrison, performed at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

My co-worker and I were debating this vid earlier this week - do you guys think Prince was calling Lynne out?

Who else was Prince glaring at across the stage?

I say yes, he was.
