Gang,

Going over to Havasu in the morning, 9-24-11 to pick up the new 21 Daytona "splash" hull built by Rick Bitz. To my knowledge, it is the second (-2-) to come out of the mold. I had him go "lake racer light" he informed me this morning it came in at 820# no too bad for a 21' boat. Picked up new competitive trailer a couple weeks ago,

IMG_2766.jpg

Engine came out of my 25 Daytona (still for sale), Larry Peto just cleaned things up and re-dynoed the thing, it made 1046 HP and I think it was 965#.

boat009-1.jpg

Dan Nelson from Jett Performance Marine will do most of the pump set work and performance related holes to be cut :D

Will add some boat pics tomorrow, if anybodies going to Havasu we will be transfering hull at the windsor boat ramp.

Cheers,

Steve

Ryan,
Thanks, we will see what it does, it is light as hell, Instigator was over last night and just the two of us lifted the entire rear of the boat off the trailer.

Cave,
I want to explore doing some yuma stuff, I came up in the old days when "most" of the local fast guys were on the beach at Horse Pasture at Roosevelt. As the lake level at Roosevelt recedes, more beach becomes usable, a bunch of guys will eventually go back there I think (I hope) I like Bartlett as well, its only about a hour for me. Sag, Apache not so much, no experience.

Regards,

Steve

did you have any problems with your trailer?
a friend bought a new competitive trailer last year,
when we went to move his 21 off the shop dolly to the new trailer
we discovered the bunks were located to narrow,

I didn't have any width problems, I did have a strange one I can't quite figure out, The front of the boat sits 3" lower on the bunks than the rear of the boat? It doesn't hit anywhere. I did remove the sponson supports on the rear of the trailer, they raised the boat to high and it was not on the bunks.

I don't know if the Bitz tunnel configuration (taper front to rear) is different or the trailer bunks need to be tapered up? My last 21 daytona I seem to remember the bunks being flat all the way front to rear.

In any case an easy fix.

the tunnels on my 21 "Daytona" taper from front to back,
I built a shop dolly and had it level, you can see it clearly when you have it on there,
my trailer bunks rise a little, I cant remember the diff between the front to back

Steve,
I think you'll need to tell Rick you plan on no carpet or he wont detail the floor in front of the engine bulkhead. He put like 5 coats of flow coat on this one. Honestly I think the interior detail is superior to even Eliminator's.

Ka0tyk,

Agreed, I had Larry Peto send this to me so I could include it as well.

Duane from Hi-Tech is preparing my jet-pump. He sent me this pic of my hi-helix "B" cut. Duane is setting it up nice and tight with all the goodies, inducer, jetaway, snoot and a place.

Thanks Sleeper,

I had to take a trip down to see Larry Peto, bring my HPX exhaust. Needed to make sure the valve covers cleared these headers, no problem. Took this photo to post. Made some changes after removing engine from 250 Daytona. needed new oil pan :D using a catch can now :thumbsup Looks like a different engine. Will replace air filters with Dooley scoop. All the parts are coming together nicely. Dan Nelson will probably start installing the intake next week.

I had a motor done by Jay at East Valley and Dan did a hull and pump boat rig for me it was one of the fastest boats around. I beat everybody with that boat he really knows how to get the pump and hull setup to really perform. I remember an Eleminator he had that I think was running in the high 130's fast for a Jet boat.

Why would you change the air filters out for a scoop? I think the filters look better personally.. ;)

I know the Finals are coming up here in Chandler. he might have a few things to tidy up.

It will be nice to see your boat complete and running here in the Valley. Might be just what we need to get out to Pleasant..

Steve, are those Lightning Headers?

Dave,

All's I can say is maybe cause I'm an old guy perhaps? Old school habits die hard. Hell I still wear pink Oakleys and have a mullet

Cave,

Those are actually HPX Jacketed headers built by Duane at Hi-Tech. Same exhaust Ryan (Blow it up) has. As far as Lake Pleasant goes, it's fine for mid week testing but the weekends, I'll leave it to the bigger boats, even my 250 Daytona get thrashed there. The Yuma pictures look real interesting to me. Lots of like built stuff and looks smooooooth.

Things should start to move along now.

And as far as the old days go......I BET...I could find some old photos of you perhaps wearing those tight John Stockton style shorts.:D

And my mullet wet down the drain well over 20 years ago.

Instigator, you are so lucky the Bilge is retired from fotochoppin. And the rest of the inmates never get down into the tech forums.:D

Note to self, Use caution when Typing to nganga. Very dangerous man with a camera.

That's OK. I think that I have a picture somewhere of a Flaming Fart at Roosevelt Lake that Nganga thought was a good idea after too many beers.:D
I think they look like Old School Gym Shorts, Do you remember Gym Class ?
That's back in the day when you actually did Physical Things instead of watching it on the internet like the kids do today.:D

You might want to flip your fuel tanks around. They are backwards. The fills need to be towards the front. ;)

Good point, but it has to leave hard enough to push all the fuel to the back of the tank and up to the fuel cap for that to be a potential problem. It is a Jet Boat by the way:D
