I am going to start building my bbq island in the next month or so and am beginning to shop built in grills. I've already ran a 3/4" natural gas line from the meter to location. My budget is up to $2,000 for the grill. Looking for something between 32" & 40".

Bull, Blaze, Lion, Napoleon, Sizzler, ___? What would you buy, have had luck with or recommend?

We did a built in years ago with gas. Never use it. If I had to do it all over again, I'd sink my Santa Maria Grill in its spot and stick to coals.

You can take any BBQ with at stand and make it built in..... save a ton and easy to replace when necessary.

I have a Vermont Castings for the last 15 year. I use it several times a week since new. I finally replaced the burners and heat shields about two years ago. It has been great although if I ever need to rebuild it again I will go with genuine parts not the generic burners. The Q was much more uniform before the aftermarket parts.

In that range check out Costco. They are not Lynx quality but hold up well. I built one for a customer who is very close to the ocean and used Lynx on another right by his house. Figured Costco would rust after a year based on price but has held up.

When I built mine two years ago I just went with the NG Weber Genesis (just under$1k). Left the side's and wheels off and slide it right in. 10 year warranty on all burner parts plus having Weber's before sold me. I use it at least 3-4 times a week.

I have a turbo 4 burner bought it in 2001 $1,400. and it works great !! We use it all the time throughout the year winter, summer all seasons! Although I have one freaking knob that broke for one of the burners and they don’t make a new knob for it. DISCONTINUED! The knob has been broke for 3or 4 years, and I’m like I’m not going to buy a new grill because of a stupid $5 knob! But I think I’m almost to that state where I need a new grill!

I don’t think I will get another turbo, just because of the knob! Just make sure you can get replacement parts for the new grill!

I will get a 4 burner as I like to be able to cook indirect, shut down the 2 middle burners and keep the 2 outside burners going.

I have a Bull.
Everything is great quality except the raise and lower handle. They use some cheap material on that part and it has gone to shit. Other then that, works great. 4 years old I believe.

I have a big ass built in from when I had my Island built 12 years ago...

It's a monster and I find it very hard to control the temps and its not even side to side. If I was ever going to do it again I would do a slide in webber just like this as they cook so much better....easy compared to my dragon:D

In Havasu I bought a Kenmore elite 700 5 burner it’s on a cart and I roll it in and out of the garage for storage. I was thinking if I build another BBQ area I would just leave spots for a rolling grill, I have a Treager smoker also on wheels.

I’m thinking I would buy a 4 burner SS cook top and convert to propane so we could also cook regular meals outside - boil water, fry up bacon, stir fry that kind of thing, plus we like to make our own BBQ sauce, red Chile sauce and Pasole soup and it needs to cook down for sereral hours and it would be cool to do it outside when the weather is nice.
Also add an under counter spot for a microwave, for quick heat ups and add a sink hot/cold water. I’m not sure about a refer as it gets so hot outside and it would be working hard during the summer months plus we have a refer & ice maker in the garage for drinks...

We love to cook and make fun outdoor meals, nothing like smoked baby backs with home made Mac & Cheese- yum

While all those built ins are aesthetically pleasing to the eye how do they hold up to being exposed to the elements?

Look at American cooking equipment. They are made of 316 ss. There show room is in Torrance and there factory is in Gardena. Mine is out side and holds up great.

Another vote for Bull I have a four burner and the burners are cast stainless and beefy have had it for roughly 10+ years and it has been great other than cleaning it. On a side note my BIL made me a smoker box that I place on one of the coals and now I use pellets in it and it works great to smoke, also have used coals on the burner diffuser and have had no issues there as well. Also no problems with my handles.

I thought about going the Santa Maria route but just don't use charcoal/wood that much. If I do get the urge, I'll bust out the trust Weber original.

When I was in Home Depot the other day, I was they have Kitchen Aid BBQs on sale. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Kitchen...rner-and-Rotisserie-Burner-740-0781/204268053

This isn't a bad deal. I like that it has a searing burner and right at $1,000 it frees up some money for a beer tap!

I like the idea of a slide in Weber. They cook great and parts should be easy to find down the road.

I think as long as you cover them they will last many years, I had custom covers made for my grill the guy used a vinyl with cloth backed fabric and has lasted for many years getting rained on out in the elements. But the cook top, micro stuff I would placed under a patio cover and then have a cover made. I have had my Visio 47 inch tv on the patio for 10 years and it still keeps going!

Keep in mind I’m thinking this would be for the Havasu house, so there isn’t a ton of moisture. Along the coast I don’t think it would last as long.

I got the elite grill at a sears scratch and dent for $850, retail $1,699, my SS Samsung beer fridge sits outside even gets wet, half under the eave half out for $750 retail $2,100 and it’s been there for 6 years and it’s in Escondido. So I figure look for a scratch and dent cook top and roll with it! Actually thinking about it a warming drawer would be cool or HOT also! It’s a hit or miss and when I’m in the area I stop to see what they have. I have noticed warming drawers before. Gas Cooktops are like $250-$350.

Here are a couple examples, you would have to go look at em in person but not bad pricing.

We can turn up some billet knobs
