Borrelli's in Encinitas is on my favorites. Bobby's Hideaway Cafe in Carlsbad are two that I'm missing right now. I could shoot you a complete list of restaurants if you want.. LOL

Best Mexican food in Cali I think:

El Callejon Encinitas
345 S Coast Highway 101
Encinitas, CA 92024

Right by Encinitas Blvd and Coast Highway.''

I love this place.

Also, they have about 100 tequilas and great Margaritas....

Dini's Bistro has a nice ocean view with an outdoor patio, right on coast hwy in Carlsbad ... also Norte's for good Mexican food is right across the road from there. There's also a nice walkway along the beach from there.

Nice restaurant at the intersection of coast highway and Tamarack (don't remember name), but they have an outdoor patio where you can watch the sunset. Pizza Port in the village, has great pizza and beer. Dini's is OK, but the bar get packed for happy hour.

Your hotel is across the street from the outlet mall. PF Changs, BJ's and the Fish Market are all within walking distance from your hotel. Across the 5 from your hotel, is a Mexican food restaurant (I prefer Norte's, due to location to beach), Claim Jumper and In-n-Out.

A Starbucks is in the outlet mall for morning coffee.

Not I. Carlsbad, but if your kids are Lego land age, I would go to the Wild Animal Park. 30 min drive east from Carlsbad

Vigilucci's is on the corner of Coast Hwy and Tamarack. Dini's has a nice restaurant attached to it. Harbor Fish on Coast Hwy SUCKS! But it's an awesome location. I guess it all depends on what you guy are looking for. We like to get take out from Ceseys (spelling) as walk over and eat on the grass patch next to Harbor Fish.

The beach spot we like to go to is across from the lagoon in between Cannon Rd and Tamarack. There are porta potties, and mellow waves. Just get there early because parking is limited.

One thing in Carlsbad that gets missed by most people is the Leo Carrillo Ranch. It's really cool and gives you a very good history lesson of Carlsbad. They've got peacocks, and cool gardens that the kids enjoy. And old barns, ranch houses, and history that adults like.

Bit great recommendations. It has been so long I forgot about V.. Awesome italian. Leo Carrillo ranch is right next to my moms house where I grew up. Used to ride motorcycles right by it back in the day. Very cool place. Sometimes the peacocks fly the coupe (pun intended) and they will come up the hill and be in moms front yard or on the roofs of the neigjbors houses etc..

(Yes I know peacocks don't fly.. But they can jump and flap and get on roofs)

Is the Potato Shack still open in Encinitas? Damn good breakfast in a nice little setting if it is...........
We're heading to SAN DIEGO with the kids and grandkids for a week, July 20, gonna go to LegoLand, Whooo Hooo! Trying to get wifie to go with the daughters and grandkids and let me stay back on the beach with my buddy, "Jack D" but that's not looking like it will work out. Anyway, looking forward to a nice week out of the AZ heat!
