The truck I just purchased is experiencing the dreaded ghost button pushing. It’ll change screens from radio to the station select, then back. It appears to be a common issue and can be fixed by replacing the screen. Unfortunately I lack the finesse and patience needed to do this kind of work. Is there an outfit you guys know of that you’d recommend that does this kind of work?

Year make and model is always helpful.

It might be covered by a recall because of the backup camera being a required item?
Yeah, that’s a big one right there.
2018 GMC Sierra 1500.
Unfortunately it’s out of warranty.

It's pretty easy to replace. You just need the outer screen. Under $30 if I recall.

The display on my 2016 GMC Denali 2500 does the "ghost" button pressing occasionally. Nice to know the fix is relatively cheap and easy to address. Thanks

I just did this Sunday for my wife's tahoe. It is about $30 and ~2 hours of your time if you watch the video and go along with it. It's really not too complex, the most delicate part are the ribbon cable connectors.

I found this screen replacement on Amazon, this includes the glass and screen. I watched a couple of videos, this seems to be easier not having to mess with removing the old screen, cleaning the metal frame, and gluing the new screen on. It looks just like a plug and play dealio.

Friend had a 2021 Ford with ghost button issues as described. I borrowed his truck and it was frustrating, I did a random search online about it and found a factory reset procedure for the radio online, it fixed it. Maybe you look and find something similar to try for GMC.
