My wife just dropped me off lunch. I picked up the bag and it could have blown away in the wind. I open it up and see this tiny sub. I measured it with my tape measure and it was exactly 4”s. I called my wife and said did you get me a child’s sandwich? She says no it was $7 the the sandwich with a pickle. Thats $1.75 and inch. Never again firehouse subs never again.

Makes the $9 6" at Jersey Mike's seem like a good deal.

I was in Havasu Tuesday. Hit up Borns Best for a Turkey and Roast Beef. Wish we had a good local sandwich spot. All gone to the chains.

I only have one feeling to check Milfy.

If Mark is your buddy, and Mark is my buddy, wouldn't that make him, OUR buddy? :)

Brian

If you find that rude , go get your feelings checked.

Mark is a buddy and I would never encourage him to do anything that is wrong

The problem with these places is it starts out with the idea of a great sandwich, then is cost cut and run by accountants who say, "if we can switch to this catsup we can save 1 cent per sandwich which equates to $200K a year in savings and so the decline starts and that's how you end up with black magic marker lines on your "grilled" chicken sandwich. :)

You shouldn't have been telling her your dick was 9" long.

As far as them exploiting the first responders.... look it up... they donate a shit ton of money to first responders... common guys

They opened a Firehouse Subs in Ventura a few months back. I stopped by and grabbed a sandwich. Nothing on the menu really appealed to me (I don't like smoked turkey and the rest was just meh). So I got their smoked brisquet as that's something you don't see much. I gotta say, the sandwich was pretty tasty but yea, SMALL. It was ok. I haven't been back, lets just say. I actually like Jersey Mikes in a pinch. Helps a buddy owns all the Jersey Mikes stores in Bakersfield, so I get free coupons all the time:D:D

Granted its not the best sub, but they ain't bad. Safeway here had their subs on sale for $5. I picked one up! Thing is huge. Bonus got the $1 per gallon off reward.

True they do donate “some” money to “local” fire stations but it’s probably only a percent or two at most. Even their radio ad says they donate “ up to 1 million dollars a year” for the cause.

Not hating on fire fighters as my brother has 22 years of service here in CA and has been put through the ringer.

I agree that a lot of these organizations ride the “first responder/ military veteran” wave and rake in the cash yet 99.9% of the money does not actually make it to the people they are “supporting”.

I know this is going to piss some people off but look at the largest players in this game the “wounded warrior” foundation. They spend on average 80% of all their donations on “fundraising”....

Personally I think Firehouse Subs is way better in quality and taste than Subway, Togos and definitely Jersey Mike's, I have been to the Jersey Mike's here in Simi twice, the Turkey tasted like store bought processed crap and the bread was so hard and crunchy that it cut the roof of my mouth I would prefer Subway over Jersey Mikes, but you can't go wrong with the pastrami dip at the Hat.

.001 of your purchase goes to their own charity. That’s a penny per $10 purchase. Looking up their charity they have a director and officers that pull $500,000k in salary $40,000 on travel, $200k on “supplies” and 250k on “promotions”

They draw grants of several million most likely for private Corp or from Fed ( more tax dollar) grants. Never a big fan in giving to fund salaries especially in an arena where the tax base should be used to adequately fund the needs of the operation.

In typical government fashion tax revenue seems to disappear on waste, pensions and administrative cost and the end game is left begging for funding.

Speaking from a family of LEO, Fire and teachers

Agreed. From a guy that one time worked in the high end food service game... nothing beats “real” food. Almost all fast food places use processed food and shit ingredients in the “fresh baked” breads that they serve. Someone hit the nail on the head earlier with the accounting side saving pennies producing dollars on the other end.

There is a reason we have become “fatter Americans” and it is directly related to the shit food we consume. My grandma lived to be 97 years old, smoked two packs of unfiltered cigarettes a day from the age of 15, but never used any fake ingredients or a microwave in all of her years. She had the famous coffee can of bacon grease under the kitchen sink and that’s how all of her food started out.

In the 7 years I have had kids I can count on one hand how many times they have eaten fast food. I absolutely will not become that parent regardless of ease of a drive thru. If they want to eat that shit as young adults then that’s on them but not on my watch.

Rant over
