I have a 3 car garage and I put 2 cars in there, and there’s zero storage built into the roof/attic, so I’ve been thinking about building something like this along one of the walls, but is there any downside to this and what should I consider View attachment 1269881 View attachment 1269882
I have some of those tubs, they get pretty heavy depending on what you put in them and then need to get them up and down from the top shelf.

I did something similar but built it around those clear tubs you can get at costco for cheap. They break after 5 years but you just keep replacing them. I like them because they are clear so you can see what's inside and with the size you can't overload them too easily.

I also have 3 automotive cabinets that are 6’ tall that hold most of my heavy things. But I will likely keep the heavy stuff down below for that reason

Darker containers work for our color scheme, plus I’m really good about labeling all my containers. To many years of being in the desert with pit boxes. Hell I even used to label my coolers so I knew what was inside of what

So, I went and bought racking, super cheap, super strong, can put shelves anywhere you want, added casters to it so I can move to clean, adjust temporarily. Racking is sold used all day long on Craigslist/ marketplace. I’ve got about $150 in the whole thing - awesome. I’ll try and upload a picture

You guy’s garages look so clean, mine is always a mess. I have too much crap and too many projects

I have a 3 car garage. I built shelving to the ceiling. Originally it was to hold totes for my business but I have boxes of wire and tools mixed in now. One side is mostly reloading supplies and fish tank supplies and power sports parts. The other side is work tools and materials. I put it in car space 1 and it doubles as a wall for my “gun room”

I should spend all day just straightening my crap out.

Wish I could have used warehouse racks, I would have saved me about $600, but the thickness was an issue and I would have to do a lot of cutting because of my low ceilings.

I also have a 3 car garage, but having 9 vehicles and all but 2 of them are all some sort of a “project” , I needed a good place to put all the parts for each project.
I’m definitely not the most organized person, but I’m tired of losing shit and buying it again just to find it a month later looking for something else. So I figured I need some organization in my life. After the work bench is done,

I came to the realization last night that I have WAY to much shit, so I’m going to move my storage cabinets over 18” and build another rack behind my prerunner so that I can store more put boxes behind that truck also. 🤦‍♀️

I actually can find most my shit rather quickly.

I know my garage looks like shit but I do have a specific place for each piece of shit. And shit i don’t use for a year I shitcan, with some exceptions

I’m down to 7 dmv registrations,

I pre made shelves and had them painted for my conex box. Just need to haul them to Parker and install. Bought the same containers on sale at Sam's club.

Going to ad 24' of 2' shelves on each side of the top back of container. Maybe this week if I can get away a day early.

I cut what I posted. Verticals were 16’ and I couldn’t go past 13’. Grinder with cut off wheel went right through it

The struggle is real...

Zip lock bags you can write on, or just plain ol paper lunch bags is how I would stay organized. It's way too easy to misplace stuff!
