I just received a quote to do our mini splits in the garages in Havasu. I had it all pre-installed but not the units themselves. I just received a quote from the company that quoted us last year, when they did the house and garage pre-install. It is almost 50% more this year from last year.

Anyone know what I should expect to pay for a 3 ton mini split installed, and what company have you used that you are happy with. I have a great local company here in so cal that said they would do it but I would prefer someone there in the event I have warranty issues or service needs.

Do you care if it is a company or an individual? I have a guy that has done AC work for me and works for one of the local companies, but moonlights on the side. I have used him 3 separate times.

What did you pre-install? The piping and line and low voltage wiring?

For a 3-ton we charge about $7,500.00 to do the whole system in a commercial application. We are union so we would be a bit more than guys in Havasu.

We would also be $6-8k There is a large price difference between good units and crappy units. The cheap ones are not worth the savings.

One thing to keep in mind is when having any system installed is that the warranty is only good if the system is installed by a professional licensed HVAC company/technician.
If installed by Mr. Handyman there is no warranty, at least that has been my experience with most manufacturers.

I am having this installed in Havasu right now by Fayette A/C: The house is already pre-wired, I was going to install it later but figured now would be better, it is a new house build with this going in the RV garage.

So it looks like the price is about right.

I'm doing a 2.5 and a 3 ton. Both Mitsubishi units, with Honeywell wifi thermostats for $9,200. I'm pouring the cement pad for them to sit on myself. I think garage is 1,700ish sqft. 60 Rv and 30 foot two car.

How good is your insulation? 500 sq ft/ton is rule of thumb for homes. You should be ok with 5.5 tons as you're not trying to keep it as cool as your house.

So (2) 2 ton LG are $5,300

(1) 2.5 and (1) 3 ton Mitsubishi are $9,200.00

Quite the jump from 2-3 ton. :eek BTW Andy...Why do you need a cement pad. I thought they hang from the wall and don't touch the ground.

Mitsubishi is a better unit.

No way they could be $5,300.00 for both it would have to be each unless you did it yourself.

Concrete pads are for the condensing units that will sit outside.

from my quote:

Option1: Furnish and Install 2- 6800 evap coolers down draft, 2- roof jacks, 2- sleeves, 2- grilles,
thermostat wire, 2- drains, 1- set legs, electric by electrician, water by plumbers. $3400 - $500 credit
= $2900.

Option 2: Furnish and Install (2) - 2 ton LG Mini Splits, hook linesets inside hood to condensing
unit on slab, electric by electrician, slab by contractor. (Warranty 1 year Labor, 10 years Parts, 10
years Compressor) $5800 - $500 credit = $5300.

Crazy. I couldn't get my guys to the site for that. That's a deal. Just make sure they are legit, contractors license, insurance etc.

Then what are the AC units that just hang from the outside wall. They stick out about 12" and are about 3' long. They don't sit on a pad. My neighbor has 2 on his garage.

You can hang them on the side of the house if you would like to or needed to.

I just had one installed on an office casita I built last month. I consider this "retail" pricing, where you would call up any large AC company and have them install it. Easy access, electric cut off installed as part of new construction, throw down pad that comes with the unit. Daikin 1.5 ton mini split was $3600 in the Phoenix metro area.

I may need to hang them if I ever go that route. I have 3' of room on the side of my RV wall and a brick wall. When I built my RV garage the city said I need clearance in case a fireman needed to get by with his oxyegen tank on.

House was finished 2/2016. They are telling me it is more than enough to cool it. I talked to Don Johnson about this awhile ago and being able to cool it fast. He has a big garage and a lot of a/c. If I wanted to it to get cool I could do two two ton units or a two and a two and a half ton set up. If I want it to get cold fast they said 2.5 and 3. I want it cold, and fast!! :D

It takes a 24 inch pad spaced away from the wall of the garage about 6 inches, it sounds like you may need to do the wall mount.

I installed a 3 ton Mitsubishi with 4 wall units in my shop. I payed ~6k for the condensing unit, wall units and the refrigerant lines. I did the wiring and install. I can't imagine this being much less than 10k if I had paid a contractor to do the work. Keep in mind I'm not including the cost of wiring, condensate drains and plumbing, a disconnect for the condensing unit, etc. I bought the unit at a contractor friend's price. This was about three years ago. This was prior to the building being finished, so all new work, not a retrofit.

If only you knew an AC guy that could do a heat load calculation and give you an educated answer instead of guessing on needed tonnage in order to achieve the desired design temp. [emoji6]

Generally you can get away from the 3' access requirements if you can access the backyard from the other side as well.

You can double check on the codes in lhc but here in OC we do it all the time Due to the much smaller lots. I had to do the same on my house. When we do the pool the pool equipment will go on that side as well.

How does the outside unit like being in direct Havasu sunlight? Any efficiency hit?

Who is the go-to for mini split install in havasu. Read the whole thread and not one recommendation. Lol
All American quoted me $7500 for two mini splits installed. The house is already prewired and has the 4” conduit down the inside of the wall to the outside and the drain s installed. Mitsubishi 2.5 ton unit and 1.5 ton unit.

We had Careys install two 3 ton Daikin units in our Havasu garage two months ago, $10,500. In and out in less then two days, nice guys, great work. Just started using the ac's this past week, 1800 sq garage, they kick ass.

Why the Daikin and not the Mitsubishi? Carey posted a picture yesterday on FB using (2) Mitsubishis. Do you have a RV garage and are the doors insulated. Looking to get mine done also.

Jason @ Sunrize Air Conditioning (928) 733-2918 in LHC installed a 2.5 ton Daikin on my detached garage. Great work, excellent attitude and wouldn't use anybody else.

The guys from Careys said the Daikin was better. Yes I have have an RV garage with a two car garage. Newly built house, energy star rating, with extra insulation and yes all 3 garage doors are insulated.

Costco has MR COOL DIY mini splits too for good pricing. Complete even the lines are precharged. Could save some one a lot of dough if they wanted to do it them selves.

2 ton unit for $1500 delivered. 20 seer rating

FYI to all, the lines aren't actually charged, most units come with enough refrigerant for X amount of lineset. If you need more then X (paperwork usually tells you what X is) then you need to add on site.

Yes for most of them correct. The MR COOL DIY actually have line sets with special valves that open when connected. So are they evacuated, maybe. Yes the outside unit should have enough refrigerant installed from the factory so when you open everything up it should be good to go. But like any system you MUST evacuate the line set and indoor unit first. If you don't evacuate the system first then it's like putting water in a glass filled up with rocks when you start.

Good afternoon, This is Carey, we use several different manufactures depending on the clients budget. I used LG for years, Daikin is one of the other top brands we use, then made the switch to Mitsubishi last year and have sense become a Diamond contractor, which allows me to offer a 12 year manufactures warranty. We follow Mitsubishi strict installation guide lines to insure the best possible install. Another big point I make is about being licensed, bonded and insured. It is expensive to be a ligit business these days. But all that is to protect the client ! Feel free to give me a call for a free estimate. Thanks!!! 928-846-3018
