Hi all... from what we have found, it looks like 5' is required from PL to a "permanent structure".
We have a 12' side setback to house (a corner lot on street side) and would like to install a 4 post auto lift there. (6'-6'6" tall)
Does the fact that the lift will be bolted to the ground make it a "permanent structure" even though it would be removable?
The consensus so far is "you can try it, but I don't know". It would be very visible from the street...
Are there any other codes that would put the kibash on our plan?Yeah, would love to build out the garage and place it inside, but the lot has other limitations that won't allow it.
Thanks for any constructive input.

Are you just parking two cars there or you’re working on cars there? I can’t imagine either are going to be overlooked by your neighbors and or complaints made to the city. 🤷🏼‍♂️

When we were looking out there they had bigger setbacks for corner lots than the 5’ between an adjacent lot. It kept us from pulling the trigger on one of the corner homes that we would have wanted to put an RV garage on the side for. 12’ already sounds closer than they were going to allow us to be.

We found that "Reverse Corner" lot that I believe you are referring to, but that doesn't apply in our case due to our rear neighbor has his side lot the same as ours, only mirrored. If his front yard was "behind" our side yard (an Interior Lot), then yes, it would require a 20' setback.
Thanks for your time!

If only the city made a page dedicated to this info. 😂
corner lot is 10 , reverse corner lot is 20.
I wouldn’t call city but I’d want to flip you off if that was next to my house, up until the day I needed to use your lift, then it would be cool, lol

Let me know how it works out. I’ve got a 20 x 50 utility easement on my side yard between the house next-door that I would like to put a lift on someday.🤣

From my recollection a number of the bendpak lifts don’t actually require bolting. Check the Mohave county gis page for your plat map and exact setback. https://az-mohave.opendata.arcgis.com/

The city has an easement abandonment process that is pretty easy. You fill the form and send to the utility company’s requesting a reduction or elimination of the easement. Most get approved.

I am aware of the abandonment process, getting all the utilities to sign off isn’t always a walk-in park. UniSource is not my friend.😡

Can you put up a gate in front of it?

It's been a while since I consulted the city page and I confess I missed the 10' corner lot setback yesterday. But I was looking for a clarification of a "Permanent Structure"
A PUE is not part or our issue.
A gate wouldn't hide it as it would be on the street side. We've considered a fence though.
This particular lift requires mounting to the floor.
I'm a bit surprised by the neighbor thumbs down votes. I know that if you didn't have your own lift, I'd quickly have a bunch of new friends! 😊
Thank you all for taking the time! That's what makes this a special place to visit!

They have 4 post lifts with wheels on them.
