I have a decent size stereo in the Daytona, with the head unit mounted in this cool motorized lid. I want a better head unit, and I would also like to get a little Garmin GPS similar to the one I had in my old boat, a Garmin map 440 I believe. I have room on my dash to mount a Garmin, but can I get a head unit that will give me close to what I want, ie, Garmin Maps? I could also put on a movie at the end of the day for my little girl, but if I needed to look at a map I could also do that? What double din, DVD/Nav head unit can give me that so I can kill two birds with one stone?

When I got my boat the head unit and amps were shot. I replaced the amps and got an adapter to connect my phone directly to the amps. It’s on a switch that turns on the amps and the Bluetooth receiver. Connect a phone or tablet and you have all the music you want. Got a life proof case with a float and I can control the music while I float in the water.

That sounds really awesome, could you please give a name for this adaptor, or a link to it,
thanks.

I appreciate the response, but I would like to keep a specific head unit, preferably a double din. I have my phone on me enough during the week, I don't want to be a slave to it on the weekend!

Look up navionics app for your phone. In theory you could run just your phone or a tablet and do it all.

This isn’t the site I got mine from but it’s the same device. Pretty sure mine came from crutchfield.

I too hate being tied to my phone which is why I normally use an iPad. Leave the phone in the glovebox.

Not sure where I found my existing cable, but there exists a hardwire setup where you can charge and extract audio from the phone/tablet simultaneously. I used it to be able to listen to Spotify and Navigation through my cars factory radio which did not have usb or anything like that. The best part was that it charged.

I don't think I've seen a double din marine GPS head unit before and I most definitely would not put a standard head unit in that compartment. I can't imagine it would last long.

I'd say it sounds like you may be wanting to do a NMEA setup with a small Garmin and a stand alone fusion that can then be controlled by the garmin via a network cable. Gets you everything except for the ability to play DVDs. That one I havent seen yet.

Any 2din stereo with nav typically is road maps only and doesn't work for shit on the water navigating on the water. If anybody as seen one I'd be interested in knowing what it is too

Edit:

found this after a small Google search. It's designed for UTVs but can do screen mirroring off of your phone, so Netflix, GPS apps all doable, vibration and water proof they claim.
Maybe it'll work??

Thanks for all of the leg work! I think I might just try a Pioneer DVD/Nav, I just thought we would have a little more info on the board. No worries!

Check out the navionics app. It may be something you want to ensure you have. It turns your smart device into a chart plotter.
