Pacific Terrace is a great hotel. Take a short walk down to Tower 23 for dinner. The food is good and the view is spectacular. Take a little longer walk south on the boardwalk and have a beer or three and Lahaina's on the beach. Breakfast at World Famous or Green Flash is a must as well. Garnet Avenue is littered with bars so take your pick. A short drive north along Mission Blvd turns into La Jolla Blvd. Drive into Bird Rock and walk the village or go about 2 miles up and walk Prospect Ave. There are dozens of excellent restaurants in LJ and PB. Visit La Valencia Hotel and go into the Whaling Bar and have a Whaler. It's a great drink. (I grew up in LJ and PB if you can't tell by now. :D ) You also need to wander into downtown to the Gaslamp district or Little Italy. Take your pick, they're both fun.

The Pacific Terrace is pretty nice. They remodeled not too long ago.

The PB boardwalk is good fun. Usually pretty crowded but good people watching.

Go north a few miles for a higher end time. Head up to Prospect street in La Jolla. Lots of great restaurants there and hit up Boboi for Gelato. I know the crazy italian owner, Andre. He attended an actual Gelato college in Italy before he opened up.

We always like to go to Georges, the downstairs bar has a great mixologist with fun cocktails. Once it gets dark the ocean view is gone anyway.
Sushi on the Rock, the Indian place downstairs from Boboi is good if you like Indian.

Downtown, the gas lamp is always busy... now Little Italy is the place to be, a thousand italian restaurants and wine bars...

I say check out the Midway floating museum, a value priced afternoon of WWII history.

San Diego has more breweries than any other county in the USA. Plenty to choose from.

Lots of good info in this thread. You're in a great location to either walk or better yet bike to several good eateries and bars.

World Famous
Tower 23 (great bloodys!!!!)
north = Nice (PB - La Jolla) / go south - not as nice but NOT bad (eg Mission Beach - Ocean Beach)
Downtown Gaslamp if your young and drunk
Little Italy for duh, Italian & wine (walk up & down India Street)
Georges in La Jolla, check out the seals while there
Island Prime $$ or Sea Level $ on harbour island
Bali Hi for an obligatory Mai Tai
In that area is Cabrillo monument on the point
Hotel del Coranodo and surrounding area
Seaport Village / Edgewater Grill

Thank you for the reply's. The midway tour is definatly on my list. I'm looking for great food and drink locations. I think the reccommendations sound great.
Bicycles are free to use at our hotel so we will be mobile by the beach and uber it the rest of the time. We are flying in tommarow around 10am. Looking foreward to get out of the smoke from the nor cal fires. The Butte fire is only about 15 miles from my house. Definatly sad to see all the destruction.. thanks agian Mike.....

Find a Groupon deal for a Flagship cruise on SD Harbor... I took my cousins there for $60 for 4 people.

Point Loma Seafoods for a quick lunch.

As others have mentioned Cabrillo Natl Monument... has some amazing views of the Harbor and Coronado.

If your looking for some racing on the water the Unlimited Hydros are on Mission Bay this weekend. Sunday, race day, has the most action on the water. Weekend tickets are $ 25.00 per person or you can get a three day Super Pass for $ 45.00 per person, includes pit access.
