My boat mechanic retired, I am happy for him but sad for me, he would pick up my boat and drop it off when done, would like to find another mechanic that can provide the same service. Can anyone refer a good mechanic in Havasu please?

We have always used Aaron at Absolute for our Lavey. Have had nothing but good experiences for many years.

With that said, I think you are going to get many opinions. I don't think you can go wrong with D1, So Cal Speed & Marine, Savage or Barrett. I'm sure there are others too but those would be my choices.

You looking for like a mobile mechanic or a one man shop? Or the big boys in town like Absolute, Barrett, etc?

A mechanic that would be willing to pickup and drop off my boat when I need service.

I use absolute speed and marine and have been very satisfied with the service I received from them. I call them, they pick my boat up from storage and return it when done.
However these threads suck. For every good recommendation you get there’ll be another from someone why you shouldn’t use them. Every shop in Havasu will have a good recommendation and every shop will have a bad recommendation. Go with who you’re comfortable with. Good luck with your search

Have have always had great service, and have had my trip saved quite a few times, by Kris @ Flat Top Marine.

Ive also had my ass saved by Savage Marine, and my buddy has used them exclusively over the years with great results on his 600Sci

AJ @ Barrett has a great rep and tons of happy customers, I would check him out as well.

As far as drop off / pick up, theres a few services that handle that as a 3rd party. Not sure any of the above listed shops will do it themselves, but they are probably happy to coordinate and work with "your guy" if they can't do it.

I have only used prestige marine in the past.. I had great customer service there every time. My PCM went out in my boat and they gave me a loaner (no charge) so I could use my boat for 2 weeks that it took to get a new one. I hate forking over money to mechanics just find one that you feel good about.. I have walked in to several boat service places and just walking around the shop and seeing the cluter and how messy it is gives me an idea of there work so I stay away from these places..

Walking around shops is something to keep in mind but don't quite paint of image of how you think it'll go. Shops can be crude but can provide what you need and have you leaving happy with whatever they provided to you.

Not Havasu. But, I hear good things about Spring Family Motorsports in Fort Mohave.

What happened to @Namba I think was his name? He owned a shop and seemed to be a good resource. A few of my buddies have used him.

If it is an outboard, Fallon

All of my I.O. boats go to Jeremy at J&J

If Jeremy ever retired, I would use Mario at So Cal Speed & Marine.

Barrett handles my drop off and pick up as needed….while I may not be a huge customer..I’m loyal as shit and the staff knows my name etc which makes you feel valued. AJ runs a good shop and his staff are beyond great…

If I wasn’t using Barrett I’d be using Aaron aka absolute. Back in the day he really went above and beyond to help me on an issue. He runs a great sop as well…

Do you have a mobile guy you'd recommend?

TIA
I do not. We use Barrett. I have heard they will pick up and drop off, but it’s mainly in town. My storage is down by the springs and they wanted to charge for that. Barrett is great but very booked out.

Most places can’t take walk in business now (like if something happens that weekend you want someone to look at), they are a month or more out. Even the smaller shops. It didn’t used to be that way but it has been like this since at least Covid.

I think a lot of this comes down to how much do you want to pay for what kind of service.

There is a lot of good mechanics and there are a lot of real nice shops. If I had a half a million dollar boat there’s only a few shops I’d take it to because they need to treat it like a Rolex.

For most of the boats I’ve owned I’ve taken them to smaller shops and been real happy. Not fancy but also not $2,000 for a yearly service.

Some set the whole thing up on computers and you could eat off the floor. Top of the line service and you pay for it.

Some smell like pizza and 10w-30 and cost 1/3 of the price but you may not get the white glove treatment.

Shopping for a new mechanic May-August is tough.

My mechanic takes care of me all the time, and squeezes me in, when something happens, but if I took my boat in for routine maintenance during his busy season, He’d charge me twice as much, and the service would be different from being serviced in March.

For anything Mercury or TCM hard to beat AJ and his team at Barrett, with Aaron at Absolute close behind. For smaller or non MR it’s hard to beat the customer service and dedication with Kris at Flattop.

Here in Fort Mohave i have no suggestions and I’ve been here my whole life, as per why i do most all my own work.

He's too busy picking up boats, fixing them, and dropping them off to post or get out on the water....
Hope Shane doing ok,was obvious he came to Havasu with allota experience and went all in.
Same as Robinson years ago with vehicles. Robinson better than any dealer shop. Nobody has serviced our trucks since his start up. Shane reminds of Darrell.

I saw Shane a couple of weeks ago, he is well and staying busy, taking a break from social media to get some work done.
