I'd guess 12k. Just buy a crate motor for a lot less.

I don't know, buy you might want to have the heads checked for cracks as well.

I owned an 06 CC 4x4. Good truck, I sold it with 30k miles so it didn't have a chance to leave me stranded.

But this one did. :D

Save yourself the headache and buy a Dmax.

My work had our 05 bulletproofed and it cost about $10k through OC diesel. Not worth it IMO and it doesn't really make it bulletproof. Other shit has happened to it here and there which has added up to a few grand each time.

$7500 to Bulletproof properly. That's if the heads are still good.

I Bulletproofed mine and it was awesome. Actually went a bit further with other mods too like FICM tune, programmer, etc...

Truck sold in minutes once I listed it. Everyone wanted the BP kit. Worthless boat anchor without it.

He is definitely the go to psd guy.

He is also a great guy and now a friend[emoji106][emoji631]

Ditto.

The info I got from McRib and Trenton is what made me willing to roll the dice with buying a 6.0.

After plugging in the Edge monitor and taking it for a baseline run, it went to Trenton for updating. I have since put it through some tests across the desert mid summer and I am happy with where I'm at.

This is exactly what happened to my 07 work truck. They bulletproofed and it was still always something, always 2 or 3 grand.

I had mine gone through at the dealership:point:smackbum: I know I know.... It cost me 7000 total for new headgaskets, new egr cooler, new oil cooler, new turbo, arp studs, and all new belts and hoses.

Right after doing all of that I learned about Domestic Diesel in Chino. Would have saved a few thousand going the bullet proof route and using them.

Call them, Rupert or John, and they will help you out. Those guys are the shiznit!!

I considered a used 6.0. Figured I could buy a LOT of gas with the lower buy-in and lack of bullet-proofing needed for the V10

If you had bought it new, were stuck with it and its paid off - I get wanting to bulletproof it.
But you sir have a choice.....

It also may be more than bulletproofing. Think - how long was it ran like that? How hot did it get? You can do all the fixes and still have the bottom end grenade from the abuse it may have seen. Good chance one or both heads are cracked also if its been toasted good.
That truck can $1000 you to death even after its fixed with all the goodies. The Variable vane turbo is notorious for taking a shit. My buddy has been through 3 of them, all under dealer warranty service. The 48v FICM is another sure to die at some point item.

For the love of god man run!

I dropped my 04 off today for studs, oil cooler, egr delete, and a turbo. It has 240,000 miles on it and runs great but I'm starting to not trust it, I did replace all of the injectors at 160,000 when the first one went out. Towed a 42 fountain for the first five years and lots of heavy shit since. Knock on wood I hope it continues to be a great truck.

I'd rather put new injectors in a Duramax every 100k for $2900 than deal with the 6.0 Ford. It may be cheap now, but it will drive you nuts when something happens every few months. A good Cummins wouldn't be a bad route, but there are weaknesses with all of them.

One thing is for sure, there is usually a reason someone is selling their stuff. Just ask a ton of questions and hopefully you don't end up with someone else's headache.

I did all this and then some on my 6.0 I had. Bigbore is on the money. Why chose the truck with std's when there are many other to choose from. Everyone thinks you bulletproof it and that's it. There's so much more to go wrong. This is what I had go wrong after I had it bulletproofed

Carrier bearing, u joint on driveshaft, new driveshaft because it got ruined, complete rear end rebuild, new trans, electrical issues out the ass, replacing wiring harnesses all over the truck mostly motor area, Ficm, hpop twice, ipr valve, ipr screen, radiator, oil cooler, whole front end suspension had to be redone, steering box-couldn't turn less than 10 mph, water pump twice- first one cracked after 3 years and replaced it with a billet one second time around, wheel hubs both sides, window motors, turbo, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump

I replaced all injectors, glow plugs and heads at time of bulletproofing, arp studs, the works. Keep in mind I only put 28,000 miles on this truck in 5 years of ownership. What piece of shit. I was literally 25k in repairs. Bought the truck in 08 with blown head gasket for 12k. It was a beautiful truck, and I loved it except for the fact it was diseased
