If this is in the wrong section, I apologize.
Last trip, something in my ignition switch broke. The key no longer automatically returns from momentary start position to on. The spring tension is completely gone. The switch still operates but you have to manually return it from start to on or acc. I would like to buy the same switch but I can't find it online. Anyone know who makes it and where I can get one?

The boat is a 2006 magic deck boat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Seems like a regular switch to me. The same bezel should work with nearly any switch.

When the new switch is installed, all you will see is the small round part around the keyhole. You can reuse the existing round ring nut and the OFF/RUN/START trim from your switch. They are separate parts.

Don't overthink this, it's a simple changeout.

.

From Overton's website. It's Sierra part number MP41040, $14.99. West Marine carries it too, for $17.49. Color: Black

After I posted the switch info I realized that particular switch has an ACCESSORY position. The position is left of OFF.

If you don't need that function, just ignore that terminal when installing the switch. OTOH, if in the future you have something you wish to power via the accessory switch it's there.

Don't forget to disconnect the batteries before beginning the work. If you have a accessory circuit, sometimes power for it is routed around the Perko switch with a diode bridge.

If your boat has this circuit, it might be powering a bilge pump or the blue wire on your stereo that keeps the channel and equalizer settings memory.

By disconnecting the batteries you'll avoid any surprises.

I'd like to just have a push button start. I leave the key in the ignition anyways.

What's the point? You would turn the ignition switch to "ON", then push the starter button. Why not just twist the ley to "START"?

I know a starter button is the cool thing to have in new cars but :rolleyes

Cleaner look, the keys rub on a vinyl area and make it brown, don't have to worry about losing or forgetting keys, or worry about kids throwing them in the water etc.

They are a pain in the ass.. I have a couple of friends with them, and when they needed to start their boat in a hurry they were sitting there fucking around with codes etc..

RD

1. You don't have to put in a code if you don't what to. ''It's called don't push and lock it''.

2. Starting is very simple you push the On Button, then push the Start button. Wow that's hard.

3.If you want to lock it you just push the off button twice.

BTW Who starts there Boat in a Hurry? I don't because when i push the on button my bilge pump start automatically so I give it a chance to get any Fumes out of the bilge., After that I may not lock it until the end of the day.

I must confess I was a bit skeptical at first, I didn't take my old ignition out I simply pulled it back under the dash. Tapped into the old ignition harness & Wired up the new push button ignition & pasted the new controller over the old hole. So for any die hard key lovers

If I knew where my keys were I could start it with them also.
