Lifeline jacket question

I don't yet own a lifeline , but with the purchase of the Sanger Hydro I am planning on ordering one in a couple days.
My question is, should I get a parachute jacket? I don't plan on "racing" around full throttle all the time.
But when I do want to see what it will go, I want to be prepared. (Plus Debbie is insisting on it, says my policy isn't THAT much.)

I am ordering her a chuteless one, I would never go wide open with a passenger, but at what speeds does a chute become necessary? Is it recommended? The seller said the boat has done 120+ (126 was his claim)
I have no idea yet, but I am quite sure it will go over 100.
How does the parachute activate?

I realize that Lifeline would give me answers, but I wanted answers from you guys first, not the vendor. How long does it take for them to ship it normally?

Thanks in advance or any info.

I would be more apt to get ballistic shorts rather than a "chute jacket".

I say get some ballistic shorts and jacket from Lifeline and call it good. Ask them what they think about the "chute jacket", Ken is a good guy and will be honest with you.

I apologize for not having an opinion regarding what you might choose with regard to safety gear but I will say that I have chosen to trust the Lifeline people with my life and I feel comfortable with that choice.

They have provided me with shorts and a jacket in a very reasonable amount of time, on schedule I might add, and at a cost I can live with.

If this were a vendor review, I'd give them a RiverDave's Place spot check BAC level of 5.0. :thumbsup

I would think that when ballistic shorts and a Lifeline are worn, a helmet would be a good idea too.

Thanks Tom, I don't mean to imply that they would steer me wrong in the least, I assume they are the leader in safety gear, just want some idea of what every one else uses.
I see video of Guru, not at a race, with his chute jacket in a K boat, then I see a Hydro doing a speed run in a Parker clip with the guy wearing nothing at all. I want to do it right, but have never had this fast a boat before.
I will be calling them tomorrow.

Don't be such a pussy... Just make sure you get a floating coozie for your beer. That way if everything goes sideways, we can still recover what's important. ;)

In all seriousness, I dunno if you need the chute or not.

I'd definately shoot Rexone a PM with regard to this.. He has been around racing of all types longer then just about anyone on here that I know of, and he could give you atleast a good idea of what you should get.. What might be overkill, and what might be not good enough.

On top of which he'll give you a competitive rate on a Lifeline Jacket. ;)

Thanks Dave!
You have no idea what a sore subject that is in our boats!
Debbie actually has a boat bumper attached to the 12 pack'r. :beer
And a little Velcro strap She puts around it! We bounced it out of the flattie one day and although it floated, all the beer and ice was lost.
Needless to say, boating was cut short and boy did I get an earful about "jumping" that wake!

I will PM Mike.

Kinda what I was hoping for. :thumbsup

Sleeper, Yeah, it is fun until some gets hurt. I don't mind losing a boat, I don't want myself or any one in it hurt because of an oversight or lack of correct precaution.
The seller gave me about a 2 hr. lecture on learning to drive it and what NOT to do until I get up to speed. He has a blown flattie also and has been very helpful. He also insisted I call him after driving it with a full report.
BTW, I gotta see your boat some day. Might make me a Ford guy after all! :D (Well.......)
