Seems to have really helped my 1998 V-10 in my Class C motor home not burn so much oil and knock cold.

Nothing else seemed to work unless there is a combo effect of using Restore and Lucas together. There is a can of that Restore in there at last oil change but the thing has burned another oil change since so who knows. I do know that after I poured in the Lucas stuff as recommended by them in a thread here, the cold start knocking is practically gone and I have only used a 1/2 qt off the dip stick in 600 miles. The Restore stuf did not give me those results at all.

Also I have discovered that the engine pinging is somehow attributed to burning so much oil because that is helped out a bunch. A couple hundred of those miles were going up to Big Bear towing the car trailer up empty and home with the jeep on.

So there is it, a thanks to a site sponsor. :thumbsup

I did use the synthetic version. Why, I don't know but it was worth the $15.

Awesome. :thumbsup

Would you recommend the additive that they have that helps with oil leaks? Is that the same as the oil stabilizer that you used? My daughters 94 Civic has a small oil leak, it's not worth rebuilding the engine for, IMO.

Where is the the oil leak coming from, Barry?

A main seal leak is a completely animal than a valve cover leak.

Barry,

Use the engine oil stop leak for that

I know the two rear cylinders are toast and I have been told in the early V-10's there are crank thrust issues and those cylinders wear.

So eventually I will have to change the engine but as times are for me right now I am glad we can possibly use the motor home more w/o having to dump $6k in the thing.

Barry I am far from recommending anything in the form of stop leak. Follow Bills advice and try it. That stuff softens seals and swells them a bit. It just might cut down those driveway stains. I don't think stop leak is all that great of a concept to seal a leaky valve cover if it's leaking there as well but, maybe that will help.

I bought a gallon of the oil stabilizer and poured 2 qts each in a couple my Isuzu trucks that use more oil then the others. I will run this a while and report back.

I still have to put the new-used Alpha drive on my boat and instead of using the Torco stuff I am out of, I will just use the Lucas gear oil.

I am thinking there name is spread all over various industries because they are doing something right.

Would that actually help a main seal leak? My sons f150 leaks and not worth the money to fix either.

Yes. It might not fix it but it will almost certainly slow the leak down.

The Lucas Product used for Hydraulics is good stuff, helps with minor seals leaks, and thinking it will add to life of seals.:thumbsup

We are seriously looking for a Hydraulic oil substitute.

I highly doubt this type of product will add to the longevity of seals if used prior to the seals leaking. Once a seal is leaking, anything you can do to keep it going has you playing on house time so it's all good then.

I have used stabilizer for at least 10 yrs. Use it on everything. Synthetic oil is thin and will find a place to leak. Lucas thickens and stops the leaks. What ever i have that takes oil i mix 50/50 with stabilizer. Worked wonders on my outboard gearcases:thumbsup

I wish it would have worked for me. Unfortunately the oil consumption in my truck is getting worse.

What happens if you add Diesel Kleen to your gas and could you also add the Lucas Stabilizer at the same time ?

Lucas engine oil stop leek is a unique formulation of lucas additives and base stock designed to stop leaks in engines. It is also an exceptional additive for worn and older engines, reducing engine noise and oil consumption while raising oil pressure,it contains no harmful solvents and can actually extend engine oil life by 50% or more. This is for the Beater that old truck that burns oil add two qts of the heavy duty oil stabilizer And see what that will do sounds like she is just tired need to BRING UP THE VISCOSITY AND STOP THE OIL THINNING THIS SHOULD HELP ALOT LUCAS OIL.

Not yet gonna check into it. I use a lot of stabilizer in motors, rear ends, trannys. Use heavy gear oil in drivetrain as well. Also big fan of the red sticky lube foe the suspension, u joints, and chasis:thumbsup. Havnt tryed the engine oil yet cuz i get a good guy deal on delo from one of my customers. He buys it by the hundreds of gallons at a time for his flatbeds ;)

Lucas Oil, so people are adding the stablizer which is very very thick to an engine that calls for say 5w20 or 5w30 engine oil. These engine are designed for this light weight type oil for a reason and by adding this thickening agent to this light weight oil is not an issue? Just asking. Thanks

PS- I ran it in my drag boat for years when mixed with 50 or sometimes 70 wt oil. Never had an issue and seemed to work very well for me. ;)

Just use it on old engines or oil burners or engines that leak oil.

Did you try the stop leak? or just the stabilizer?

The oil stabilizer is for oil and the fuel is for fuel....neither would affect the other.

Love your products. Run it in all my semi teucks and other equipment:thumbsup

let me know the next time you need to order ;)

FWIW,

I've used Lucas oil stabilizer for years.....like 20 plus yrs.

When the 565 came off the dyno a couple months ago, I put 2 qrts in the 15 qrt oil system in the boat with Mobil 1 15-50

Good stuff...I use it for dry start protection, before I started using Mobil 1 years ago it helped lower oil temp and keep the psi up with conventional oil.

I use Lucas stabilzer in everything I own. Don't know how much good it does but seems it does quiet my 8.1 liter truck, my Harley, and the boat. Peace of mind seems worth it to me.

Have used it on an engine tilt for a 200 yamaha. Worked like a charm. seal on the main piston had a dimple that was letting it leak down. We used the power steering stop leak.

RB,
I run synthetic Mobil 1 in my motorhome. It gives off a puff of smoke at start up but I know I put it through the ringer towing in the dead of summer. Can I use the oil stabilizer with synthetic fluids or does it matter?

They make a synthetic version that is compatible. Thats what I run in my Motor homes V-10.

The Stabilizer comes in both synthetic and non-synthetic. it is safe to mix our non-synthetic with synthetic oils though. we commonly see people mixing with no negative side effects.

Been doing that for years..............but I'm far more prone to break an engine before I would wear one out.

BTW: how long has Lucas been around?
