I just got a set of markIV heads for my gen 5 block. I've heard you can do the swap with a fel-pro gaskets. Has anyone here done this swap. This is in my 93 chevy 3500. Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure if it is the same or not but I have a Gen IV block with Gen V heads and am using Fel-Pro Performance Head Gaskets 17049

Thanks. Did you have to do any modifications to make it work.

No these were the kind that were on the motor when I took it apart. From what I can tell this is the head gasket that will seal between the two different water passages. I compared them to the gaskets I have for my mark IV drag motor and they are different.

Better do your homework to make sure you get the correct gaskets, if I recall at least one of the Fel Pro numbers works on one combination, but not the reverse. My understanding is that one of the reasons the Gen 6 blocks were released was to correct sealing problems with MK IV and aftermarket (MK IV style) heads being used and not sealing properly on Gen 5 blocks.

I ended up finding out I would need to replace the rockers and some other parts to make the swap work. Decided to just have my stock heads repaired. Saving me about 1k
