The cable going to the trim cylinder is bad, and I need to replace it, but I can't figure out how to get the thing apart. I attached a couple pics below that show the end as far as it will go, and one with it all the way up...

How do I get this thing apart??

There is a small set screw under the piece you are holding in you're hand. It goes in the groove to hold the cable in the housing in you're hand. The cable is a standard 33c series cable.

Sorry just looked again. Looks like you already have set screw out. The other end is threaded on to the cable holding that spring on.

That's kinda what I figured, but I cant seem to break the end loose (off the threads), It just turns the cable. I'll try and hold it with something tonight and see if I can get it to unscrew off the cable. Once I get the end off, will I be able to pull the cable out... I cant see anyway this is put together..

Thanks for your help.

The cable is one complete unit. Morse or telleflex 33 series. All the stuff on the end comes off but the inside of the cable does not come out. The red out and inner cable is all one unit. From the spring out is all attaching hardware. There must be some kind of transom seal you will need to take the nut off and remove rubber gromet and pull complete red cable out of the boat. Will need to disconnect at indicator also. And remove any zip ties holding other items to indicator cable thru gunnels (etc). If you want send pics of transom seal and i can tell you how that comes apart.
