That would be considered a Super C and I've never heard of one thats not diesel powered.....

I have used International Chassis Super C's and they're awesome!

Pretty sure that you're talking the 8.1 gasser and Allison combo. I have that d/train in my HD2500 pickup and it's been bullet proof for 130K miles. I know that Pat Minegar has that combo and with a 31 or 32' moho and enclosed trailer with a flatty inside he only rolls about 5-6 or was it 4-5 MPG on the tow from Boise to Needles a couple of times each year.

Good combo but VERY thirsty!

I have the 8.1 Alison combo in my class A. Great power, great torque and a very economical (not) 8 mpg.

If it's an Endura you wont like the actual coach quality. Yes the 8.1 Allison Combo was definitely available.

As stated above the adopted name is Super C.

Yes it is 8.1 with the Allison trans. I did not know they came with gas engines but recently looked at one with the big gas engine. It was 33ft long and can tow 8,000#.

I have spent time in the Endura and I thought the build quality was very nice. Whats not to like?

True story. If you're on the phone when it downshifts, just hang up and try again when it goes back into OD. lol

We got the diesel version in a Jayco Seneca and love it. Drove both the Jayco and Endura and both gas and diesel. Jayco quality was way better and the diesel milage was way better. Ride isn't bad with change to Bilstien shocks. Make sure it has the 19,000 lbs rear springs in the rear vs. 16,000lb. If it doesn't it will be sagging in back. Jayco replaced ours under warranty. It doesn't ride like a diesel pusher on air bags but they aren't. :)

My BIL has a Super C with an 8.1/Allison combo.
Has good power, it's just thirsty.
He bought new, and figured the $10K he saved over the optional Duramax can buy a lot of gas.

Why so rough compared to other class c or class a not air ride??

Do you think this engine is better than the class c Fords?

True, but it's 30 ft behind me and as with all my stuff I have a let burn policy. (If it catches fire do not attempt to put it out and do not call the fire department until you know it's a total).

I would think it would perform similiar to the big Class A M/H's with similiar drivetrain. I would also think the 8.1/Allison combo would be 'pert near bullet proof.

Several years ago I rented an Class A with the 8.1/Allison, I liked it better than the V-10 Ford powered rigs, mainly because it always seemed like you needed to wring the piss out of the Ford to get any performance, but that might be just how th V-10's perform.

Seems like a pretty solid drive train package. I am not sure how much i would use it but it looks like it would be fun.

Yeah that's just how the V10 was designed to run. It'a giving up over a liter in displacement to the 8.1 as well.
A lot of people don't like elevated revs for extended periods of time, but it's designed to do that.

My Dad has a 40' Foretravel pusher with a 3208 Cat diesel and a 3 cylinder diesel generator and he gets 11 mpg running 75...... It doesn't matter what he is pulling. He had it built years ago..... Has an Allison transmission in it. Deals are everywhere on Motorhomes.

Good luck!

I've kicked around the idea of buying a Bluebird as a travel machine. The Front Control rigs came with a 3208, the later ones were turbo'd. Reading the forums for those RVs is kind of funny.

Want more power out of a 3208? Just turn this screw on the fuel pump... :D The standard is to turn it up till the tranmission starts slipping then back it off a little bit... LOL.
