Here is a build thread for the Brand New P550 crackerbox

The Old Wood Patterson Crackerbox came down with a case of rot wood. Over the years, the bottom of the boat has been smoothered in oil and the glass will no longer stick to the bottom. Within the next year or two, we will need to replace the bottom, battons, frames, and keel. That is a whole nother thread in itself.

Here are a few pics of the destruction and its current nest

We contacted Tom Patterson in Boulder City, NV about is new glass crackerbox he had for sale. Years and years ago, Tom made a mold off a wood Patterson cracker and started building glass crackers. A few years ago, Tom redesigned the bottom of his mold. This is the second cracker that has the bottom redesigned.

Tom built about 75% of the rigging. The rigging is bad ass and very stout. Tom is very talented at fabing

It's about time we finally get to see it. :D. Do you have to add weight or anything to the fiberglass hulls? Looks like it should be quite a bit lighter without all the wood bracing.

What's up bud! This boat is laid up heavy compared to other glass crackers. Few hundred pounds lighter than the wood boat. We should haul ass faster down the straight and still be able to turn as good as the wood boats :thumbsup:skull

Lookin forward to seeing you guys out in Marble Falls again :thumbsup

You guys are speakin jibberish. The wood boat WILL be repaired and WILL see water again within the next year or two. It will be a Parker cruiser and make a few races. If you want to see it, just pull up to Fox's and look at it tied up to the dock :thumbsup

Ken is a great dude. He reglassed the bottom of the 550 a few years ago and it help up until this point. We all knew it was not if, but when the glass would get ripped off again due to the wood being saturated with oil

Kenny was my mentor, I learned most of what I know under his guidance I have used his wisdom and touterage thru out my life both in and out of the boat bussiness, I talk with him every couple months. When I was involved with Eagle/Double Eagle if I had a problem I could always count on him to come by and strighten my ass out show me where I went wrong His favorite saying was Michael there,s nothing you can f**k up that I can't fix up I have tested that theroy many of times and He was right.

We may run into you before then, I'll be in San Angelo and Ken has threatened to give hydrofoilers some tow money to go to Wheatland but it hasn't happened yet. Of course we'll be working all angles to get to the Havasu race.

I'm not thinking the rides for drinks thing is going to work very long when everyone sees you drive. I think there are a few other reasons for the bottom coming off the 550. :skull:D

Andrew, boat looks great bud!

Let me be the first to vote for restoring the old boat to it's original glory. I've been watching crackerbox racing since about 1971 and that thing was King!

Big thanks to Steveo143 for machining the oil pump and alternator mount. Steveo also made the feet that hold the bracket to the motor rails. Came out fucking bad ass!

Do it like was, maybe ghost something into the stripes like the P66's checkers, and change the number to P552.
