I was at my BIL shop in Bellflower that was adjacent to the 91 freeway and heard what sounded like hundreds of sirens going down the freeway. No cell phones or social media back then! Got home and the car chase was still on!

Can well recall when the verdict for the first trial was announced, I saw one of the jurors interviewed. When asked about the DNA evidence she said, That don’t mean nothing. Lots of people have OJ’s DNA. That pretty much summed up the validity for that verdict.

We hadxwatched the slow speed chase from our hotel room at the Primadonna hotel & casino in Primm NV. On our way to Mead for a houseboat trip.

POS got off easy....

Was working at a machine shop hooking up CNC machines when the verdict was read. The head machinist was this big black guy, super cool guy. He had some crazy stories of his youth growing up in LA, but got his shit together and made something of himself and moved to Brea... We all decided we would take break/lunch when the verdict was read. He walks over and start laughing and says "Look at all the white dudes waiting to see a black man hang..." It got VERY uncomfortable, and then he starts laughing and says "Im just fucking with you all, relax". He grabs a bucket and sits down to listen... The verdict is read, you could hear a pin drop because we all froze not knowing what to say. This dude stands up, yells "GAWWWWWD DAMMIT, that n____s GUILTY and everybody knows!!! He just set us back 20 years!!!" Kicks the bucket across the warehouse and storms off. All day he just kept shaking his head in disbelief and was pissed off.

I had just gotten my first brick sized cell phone the day of his acquittal. Having not watched any news I drove into Burbank early the next morning unaware of the verdict & brewing riots.
That was fkn nuts!
