Don’t swap the PCI for Rugged, PCI is a better system all around.
They are just radio channels tho, so there is no “this channel for PCI and that channel for Rugged”
This. Not worth changing.

Worst case program in the channels you don’t have that they might have and use.

They will be pretty similar, but the sequence of them will not match - their Channel 5 Checker might be your Channel 10.

We have a custom channel and PCI can program either brand so I’m guessing g they are basically the same product, likely made in China by the same 9 year old

I have like 100 channels in mine, no one else does so it’s nearly useless and few people carry the hand mic to punch in frequencies manually.

Some of the radios have hand mics with keypads on them and you can punch in frequencies. Some only come with a “standard” single button hand mic, so you can’t. Rugged and PCI typically just give you the “standard” hand mic so you’d have to buy the keypad hand mic as an option. You’d have to find one that was compatible with your radio model.

Does pci or rugged happen to have cloning capability and a cord to do it? Boy that would sure be nice.

Depends on the radio model. I am sure the capability is there because they do programming for you, or send you to a 3rd party for the cable and software.

They don’t give you the cord to my knowledge, you have to buy it separately. I’ve bought the cloning cables for all my radios. When the Rugged radio I bought recently had the “Rugged” GRMS locked firmware in it, I didn’t try to clone it, I just put in the standard firmware, unlocking the radio.

This thread shows how powerful Rugged's marketing is. The question should be the inverse as most of the channels were built/named by the Weatherman (founder of PCI)

Questions about PCI and Rugged? If you come to the Sand-Water-RV Expo at Lake Havasu State Park, Windsor 4 November 19 or 20 bring your questions. Both PCI and Rugged are exhibitors at the Expo with tech and sales people staffing their displays.
Will they be able to do programming if we bring our radio? I have the frequency and the tone code for the one we use.

I'd call and ask. They usually seem to have the programming people there at events.

If your still in Glamis this weekend PCI is at vendor row and can do it. Just get there early they get real busy.

Look on the Internet about who the Weatherman was and what he did for off-road racing. I raced the Baja 1000 a couple times, many years ago, and it was comforting to hear his voice throughout the race.

Once you know about the Weatherman, it will be an easy choice to get PCI radios.

PCI is definitely the superior intercom, i bought rugged for my rzr only because the 25% off SSSS sale made it stupid cheap.

For the first 10-15 minutes of riding the rugged picks up a ton of charging noise from the engine, you can hear the stator/voltage regulator ticking on a schedule. Annoying as fuck, but goes away once the battery is topped (at least i assume that is what is going on)
