I bought the ranger 150 and built it up.. it is the same platform as the ace with a different body on it.

It’s a cool little car but my kids are having more fun with their quads and the quads are a lot more capable.

The next quad I was looking at was a Raptor 250. Which requires her to learn how to shift with a clutch,
What did you end up getting for you kids

The quad will be faster and easier to transport if you care about such things.

The Ace has a weaker resale than the RZR 170 and the Ranger 150 because it is single seater. It will be faster than both though because it is lighter.

How old is your daughter? The RZR 170 is great for kids up to about 10-11. I bought bought my daughter a RZR 570 when she was 12.

she is 9, but small for her age (maybe 50lbs when wet).
She has been on the 90 since 2019, so we need to upgrade and I am starting to watch all the post desert season sales to pick up her next toy. We have a 2004 Honda 250ex, but that is the drink beer and follow her around quad for mom and dad :)

I have a RZR 170 for my daughter who is 8. She drives the piss out of it and loves taking her friends. She rides a lot more confidently in the rzr then she did the quad. But its been years now since she had the quad. Id look for a RZR 570. You can always put a throttle stop or limit the 570. If you buy the 170 she will be growing out of it in a couple years i bet. Thats what i see with my daughter.

A good plan on the 570.

Since your daughter is on the smaller side, I would stick with a RZR 170 for a couple of year's. Smaller kids struggle to reach the pedals with the seat all the way forward on a 570. Ask me how I know. The resale on 170's is really good.

With her size it comes down to a RZR 170 or ACE 150. The Ace looks to have better ground clearance and goes up to 30. All her desert friends are older and we usually get the hand me down toys :). With the RZR 170, I could see her wanting mom to ride with her and I am trying to avoid that

There are some folks that did a RZR turbo engine swap into an RS1 (single seat RZR XP) and it has 210 HP or something. Looks unreal to drive.

I have the older model, auto shift with no clutch
too big for my daughter since she is so tiny
Polaris 110 quad might be a good intermediate size wise for quads.
My 10 year old Daughter is 5’03”. She got too tall for the Lt 80 and is doing great on her Honda Trx 250 x

Lol, My daughter went through that phase too. My 6'1" 230lb ass has been in that passenger seat of the 170 many times. Not fun.

Rob, bring her out to JV one of these weekends and she can drive this as much as she wants and decide then. My legs are too long to fit in the damn thing anymore with the cage, sides and the radio in the center dash was the end of my rides. I make my wife go with our daughter now. When I have to move it without my son I have to drive it with just 1 leg in for the pedals sitting on the top rail of the side.s 😁 I welded extensions on the pedals for little legs and the race seats are on sliders, my 5 year old daughter fits but just needs a little more arm strength for turning

I know it's not ONLY me, but I truly feel that if the goal is to develop a child's ability to ride and navigate desert terrain safely and effectively, kids should learn how to properly ride a fully manual vehicle and honestly, a dirt bike would be the most effective, and safer, learning method. Once those skills are learned and honed a bit, then let them decide to go to 4 wheels, quad or side by side. They will be a better and more pragmatic operator with those skills.

This might work out perfect. Need to look at the calendar and see what my wife has planned,
I want 1 more desert trip before the trailer gets prepped for Havasu (Adding a 3rd AC to keep it cooler on those 120 days).

The wife and I had the 570 and brought it down from Oregon when we moved here. We had some real good times in it and it's a very capable machine. It went anywhere any of our friends went in their 800's and 1000's. Never held anybody back at all. We had it up there for the smaller width riding trails through the trees and going through the narrow posts on many trails up there. That thing was also very good on fuel , just sipped the gas.

I put a thread up on the "final" build pics of my 150 for you so you can see what it is and how it turned out. My kids love it. Right now they are more into their quads because that's the "new thing" in the garage.. but ultimately I think the steering wheel and stereo is gonna win out in the end.

The ranger is much easier to fit in for adults.. FYI.
